Ahhhhh! I just bought The Once and Future Witches because the cover looked so autumnal and perfect for an October read (fortunately it was a second hand book). I did finish Nettle & Bone and it was definitely a different style of writing, truly a grown-up fairy tale. It did get better the further you get into it but still a strange story for sure. Your video makes me feel like I should do an unhaul as I know I keep too many books that I will probably never read (especially since I keep getting more!) Thanks for the inspiration!

oh no!!! i really hope you like it, i’ve seen a lot of people giving it 5 stars so maybe i’m the outlier! glad you enjoyed nettle and bone, i don’t think it was for me at all sadly. i adore doing unhauls, they make me feel like a whole new person!!

Good job on the unhaul. It's OK to read what makes you happy. Life is too short to read books you don't enjoy. BTW, you kept My Year of Rest and Relaxation. You liked that? I really hated that one.

I watched a book unhaul and then I will watch a closet unhaul to give myself motivation to actually unhaul stuff myself. XDDD

8:41 Not sure if you're aware (you probably are, tbh), but that edition of Praise with the ugly cover is actually a reprint! They reprinted the series with horrible covers, so you definitely need to get a copy of the old cover with the guy on it! (Good luck, though, because everyone is selling them for a ridiculous price online.) 😭💔

yeah i’m so annoyed because as soon as i went to buy the series, they’d JUST changed the praise cover!! maybe one day i’ll splash out on the r over one so that i can have a matching set hahahaha

I'm currently reading Circe and I'm really loving it so far (about halfway through) I'm interested to know why you disliked it so much

i think the writing just went over my head!!! felt like i was a bit too dumb for it🥲 didn’t really understand why was happening so i dragged myself through it. glad you’re loving it!!

@@bookswithellen I can get that, the writing is definitely a bit more lyrical but I think that's what I like about it. The lyricism and greek mythology combo makes sense in my brain haha I think I wouldn't be enjoying it as much though if I didn't now have a better general knowledge of greek mythology. I think it is why I'm liking Circe more than I did Song of Achilles, I just know more now 🤷🏻‍♀

I think your purple shelf looks off because you have dark blues and yellows included when it should go from light purple to violent but not blues.

Hi

When I tell you how happy I was to see you unhaul A Certain Hunger🤝🏾. I personally love Lit Fic but the writing style of that book and the personality of the MC just pissed me tf off 😭. I DNF'd it at like 50% through. It was exhausting to read, there was so much meandering and unnecessary verbosity in the story.......goddamn.
