Huge Tube Warmth with Solid State Clarity // Hartke LH500
Музыка
The Hartke LH500, like its big brother, has a classic 12AX7 Class-A tube front-end design with a solid-state output. Developed with the HyDrive cabs in mind, the LH500 also has more than enough power and tone control to drive any cabinet on the market. The Hartke LH500 provides you with Treble and Bass Shelving to give its warm tone a little edge - or use the bright and limiter switches to further sculpt your sound. The Hartke LH500's intuitive front panel also makes adjustments on the fly a breeze.

Hartke are the underdogs of the bass amp world.
My favorite brand,i use them from more than 10 years and am very happy🤘!
These suckers are still the best bang for the buck over the years. Good to see they are still around.
My hartke 350 back in the served me so well and so far beyond what it should have, I don't think anyone should ever sleep on them...

I'm currently running an HA3500 through a Peavey 210 cab and honestly, the tones are way more than you should expect out of such a simple /budget set up. It sits exactly where it needs to in the mix when used live....pushing the mids makes it come to life!
Hey guys. I don't think it was mentioned but the 3 band tone stack is based off the older passive Fender tone stack. A flat EQ response is achieved by setting the knobs to approximately bass - 0 (all the way counter clockwise), mids - 10, treble 0. I think this amp sounds better at this setting and pushes a lot more mid\low mid. Any chance of revisiting with this setting in mind?

Was going to post this as well....all tones in the vid are mid scooped to my ears. I set my LH500 with bass @ 0, treble @ 0, and mids full on. Definitely a flatter eq sound this way

@@matthewbeckwith663 That is how I've run my LH500 in the past. Last night I watched a YT clip of someone running an LH1000 (same tone stack) through frequency reporting software and it seems he got a nearly completely flat response with Bass - 1, Mids - 7, Treble - 2. I'm gonna try that next gig.

@@jcburn1973 ohhhh sweet! I'll try those settings. I've been lazy and haven't tinkered much with, say, optimizing the flat eq.

I've used the LH1000 for years as my main live amp and it's suitable for me (if a little clean, honestly. but nothing a little bit of overdrive doesn't fix).
I played one last night at a club where I live. With a 410 Hartke Cab. Sounded incredible. Made my active Jag sounded like a million dollars
This head has been on my list for a minute now. Thanks for the vid.
I’ve had the HA3500 for decades .. just got the LX500 a year ago and I’m good with it.. I only play small gigs via direct out to PA but I have an aguilar 12 cab on stage, would love to have the newer Hartke cab but not gonna spend more $ on gear.. too old now
Just got it today. Really rocks and awesome for ballads as well 😊
The LH500 was the best head I've ever owned to be honest. A real workhorse. The only reason I sold mine was to help fund getting an LH1000.
Awesome i was already convinced to buy one of these now its settled
Simple and effective. My Hartke 508 is a monster of a combo that sounds as good or better than any of the other brands I have used (Fender, Mesa, Darkglass, Quilter)
I've been an owner of this amp for several years and I'm still impressed at how good this thing sounds. It's built like a tank and its simplicity is something I really like about it. No matter how you dial the knobs, it's impossible to make it sound bad. The only downside is its weight, but I stopped touring a few years ago so it's not an issue for me anymore. If you're looking for a reliable good sounding amp, definitively give it a try, you won't be disappointed.

Hey man, i was wondering how this thing sounds at practice/bedroom levels, with say a 2x10 cab? Thanks
@Demole

@@theBoogerman666 Hey man. I've never used it with a 2x10 but I see no problem in that. Currently I use it in my bedroom with a 4x10 cab and never have to use it with the volume past 4, if I increase it to more than 4, then the walls start shaking. Volume at 2 or 3 is more than enough to use it as a bedroom practice amp.

@@Demole thanks for your input. Do you think it sounds good at lower volumes? Specifically the drive circuit. I know it's not a tube, but just wondering how the overall drive is on this thing
@Demole
3 ай бұрын
@@theBoogerman666 It sounds great at low and high volumes. It has a 12ax7 tube in the preamp section but has no drive. The head is incredibly clean, I've tried putting a pedal right before it with increased gain to saturate the tube in order to get a driven tube sound with no success. It's easier to use an overdrive/distortion pedal rather than trying to saturate the tube on this thing.

@@Demole you are right. I have so many amps on the brain i got it confused with another I'm looking at. Thanks for the help!
I absolutely loved mine. Just didn’t need anything that big anymore!
5:25 I know it probably isn't, but this rhythm sounds alot like the bassline from DX theme song in WWE
I had this amp and it was a really good pedal platform and with a new tube (if you buy used like i did) it really comes to life, I regret getting rid of it.
Awesome demo 😎🤘🏻🎸 I have the same bass head and it sounds phenomenal. It’s simple but versatile. I’m a huge hartke fan and I’ve been use these amps along with gk for many years. I’ve paired with this bass head with a gk CX 1x15 and it sounds totally killer. I got a big warm aggressive tone with this setup. And I’ll bet I would get the same sound if I had paired it up with a hartke hd 1x15 bass cab.
excellent review, also nice to see a new BTBMS alongside a Dingwall. I use a LH1000 with 1x12 and 2x10 Zeuss cabs and it rips through any gig.
Fantastic head with plenty of tonal variety for its simplicity! I use this head for everything below 150 HZ fed from a bass compressor and Ibanez TS9B (as a clean boost) for all the deep, rich, heavy low goodness, outputting to a 1x15 cab. Pairs nicely with an Ampeg B2-RE head that handles 150 HZ and up, due to its more involved EQ options, fed from a bass compressor, a TS9, MXR 6-band EQ, and an MXR Bass Preamp, outputting to a 4x10 cab. Frequency split is achieved with a Rolls Tiny 2-way Crossover box. I love this rig, and highly recommend trying the same kind of head/cab strategy. The LH500 can handle the highs just fine, too, so it's worth trying itbin either position.

I literally just got one of these, and so far, I'm very happy compared to what I was using before - a class d TC mini head. Way better volume and feel than a Class D head.
I'd love to see a review of the HA3500 as well, if that's possible for you guys.
Very good review guys. In my opinion the LH amps are still the best hartke products for many reason. Next time I would love to see you guys talk more about the tone stack preamp because people are still confusing it with cut-boost and they are so different. The tones versatility you can get using the pre setting even with a small increase for each control from zero, is outstanding.
Can this work JUST as a DI?
solid state class A / toroidal transformer power output always sounds "meatier", louder, and more tube like than class D. Listen to old Acoustic/Eden/GK/SWR/Ampeg.
LH500 plays well with the dirt pedals ive used
I loved the power of this when I had it years ago.....just couldn't get past the Eq
My Genz Benz haz tube too but it also has 2 knobs, Vol and Gain, plus overdrive indicator. It allows to dial desirable level of compression for every bass. Strange thing that Hartke added the tube but didn't provide any way to benefit from it.
Name of song
I think I'd like hartke amps but I've only ever heard them paired with their plinky sounding aluminum speakers. I'd love to hear them through something meatier

I play my LH500 through an old Peavy 2x15 with the blackwidow speakers. I love my Pbass through this rig! Warm, tight, and clear. The tube preamp provides just enough bloom to each note.
Super witzige Sendung wieder. Könnt ihr nicht mal so ne Stunde draus machen? Viel zu schnell vorbei das Ding
tell them if it doesnt say. rms after what the supposed watts. its just a guess. the rms means one was tested. to the specs. just saying like my ampeg svt 7 pro. 1,000 watts rms. at 4 ohms. it does have good tone. 👍👍👍. have a good day
This amp is just too simple for me. No gain is a deal breaker. Three eq bands is okay i guess but would prefer parametric mids. A limiter button? What use is that...

@@mrebear9758 The amp has very little circuitry to impose its own "color." It's the musical equivalent of white meat chicken, lol! Season it however you want. Need more eq? There's literally tons of pedals out there that can do this for you, no problem, and they won't fight against the EQ of the amp. Limiter not enough? Use of of the countless compressor pedals out there.
Harkte have been average since the 90s!! Nice to see a class AB poweramp, but that front panel is pretty sad. Who gets excited by one tube?
