Huge SWELLS crossing PORT ROYAL SOUND | FIRST TIME using a MOORING BALL in Beaufort, SC

Jenn and Ollie get an unexpected bath while crossing our first sound! A combination of the wind, tides, and our heading gave us some huge swells that came over the side of PIVOT on Port Royal Sound. We enjoyed dolphins and used a mooring ball for our first time!
Thanks for watching!
Cheers from the Loop,
Jennifer and Elliot

ABOUT US
Hi! We are high school sweethearts from Atlanta, Georgia who decided to take a year off to travel around the world. Together we decided to create vlogs for our journey as a fun way to remember it. On September 15, 2019, we left Atlanta with 3 bags, 2 one-way tickets, and 1 goal of traveling for a whole year. Little did we know, 6 months later we would find ourselves in a nationwide lockdown in India. After spending 5 months in India, we came back to the United States and decided to purchase a 34’ Trawler, dive head first into boat life, and kick off America’s Great Loop.
The good, the bad, the ugly - and most importantly, the real and real funny. We’re not here to tell you “how it’s done.” Just how we’ve done it. And that whatever it is that’s calling you - the way you’ll do it is much more attainable than it may seem.
Thank you for following us along our journey!

You might want to do something about the long end of the strap on your life jacket when pulling the anchor. It would be horrible if it was caught in the windlass. Enjoy the adventure. Sounds like a fun time.

You need anchor bridle! Also put the boat in forward to pull the anchor up rather than using your windlass to pull the boat. Most importantly, don't ever call your Admiral a deckhand 😉

The motor problem could be that the fuel tank breather may be closed, loosen to let the tank breath, hope it's as simple as that, best of luck, Al

I’m watching this on Friday night, January 14. I am wondering when you videotaped it. Were you in Beaufort today? I started watching you two just a week ago and am enjoying watching because you are so new to boating and the Loop. My husband and I will be new, too, when we start The Loop in June. We live in Savannah, so I am sorry that I didn’t know when you were here. Sounds like you had dinner plans already, but I would have loved to take you two out to dinner and pick your brains. Keep up the good work, but please tell us the date when you film.

Hi Janet! Thank you so much for watching we really appreciate it! That's exciting - June is just around the corner! We have thoroughly enjoyed Savannah both times we've come through and are looking forward to stopping by again. If you check the video description we usually have the film dates there! For this video it was back when we were heading north last Spring - April 20, 2021. Cheers!
