Huge Scale RC Helicopter - Bell 205 "Huey"

Ғылым және технология

Here is another scratch built scale RC helicopter built by Michael from the Whittlesea special interest group in Melbourne Australia. It would have to be one of the biggest RC helicopter I have ever seen. Themed on Vario scale body the machine consists of a variety of parts from a Trex, Raptor G4 and Robbe-Schlüter parts. Mechanics were totally scratch built and hand crafted by Michael. I think most viewers will agree that he is truly a master builder.

Whoa. A wonderful Bell 205 model with scratch build mechanics, scratch-built scale fuselage, and competently flown in a scale-like manner, all by the same person. My hat is off to this gentleman, this has got to be one of the coolest achievements by a sigle person I have seen in RC heli hobby.

@@DCT_Aaron_Engineering welcome. Hey question if you don't mind. I have alot of experience with nitro cars ie 1/8th scale 1/10th scale off and on road but know absolute zero about helis. I purchased a blade sr uh1 Huey from a guy who never flew it. When I throttle up and around mid stick it starts to get light on the skids but tends to drift to the left. Swash plate is level on the horizontal and very very little tilt forward. Some say it's normal I've read it is electric with ccpm. What is your opinion. Am I not being to aggressive with the throttle? It is set for normal flight mode and low rate. I've read you are suppose to almost snap it up to get out of the bad rotor wash but I'm kinda scared it goes psycho on me? Your opinion plz?

  • @DCT_Aaron_Engineering

Hey buddy, it sounds correct. If it's set up old school it should have -2 degrees pitch bottom stick, +5 degrees pitch mid stick and +10-12 pitch top stick. This is different then a modern 3D pitch curve. I suggest getting a flight simulator and practising on that first. Otherwise, I suggest going to your local RC model club and ask for help. If you've never hovered before, you will need a trainer undercarriage. I suggest getting help before you fly it again. Otherwise it will just end up in the bin. Cheers, Aaron.

Bell helicopters rotate in a "counter clockwise" direction. Where is the "stinger" on the end of the tail boom??? Ya need a turbine jet engine. Nice model, nice flight, & job well done!

Take a look at the large Bell 47G's he built here kzread.info/dash/bejne/eZyW27yfg8awYdY.html Good pick up. Depending on the model, some Huey's have the tail rotor on that side. Unfortunately we are stuck with that main rotor rotation due to blades and gearing etc. Ok, thanks for watching and have a awesome day. Cheers, Aaron.

William Lapo Hey William. Agreed turbine mechanics would look and sound awesome, unfortunately they're a whole different issue. There is cost, complexity and also certification required to operate turbine models. Hey, Your experience in real aviation sounds awesome. We play with models, but you actually do it for real. Do you have some videos on KZread? I will check out your channel. Oh, check out Earl Watters channels. He does heaps of heli flying (Jet & Long Rangers, Sky Crane, and MD). Thanks for watching. Cheers, Aaron.

+VIKAS SINGH Hello Vikas. The petrol engines in these helicopters are made by Zenoah (Komatsu industries) and they are approximately 23cc - 30cc in size which is about 5-6 horsepower. In Australia you must fly your radio control helicopter and keep it within line of sight. However, I think the maximum range is about 4km. Have a nice day Vikas and thanks for watching my videos. Kind regards, Aaron.
