A huge salamander tried to wriggle out of a heron’s mouth after being swallowed whole.
Michelle Siefken was at Lake Hollingsworth, Florida, USA, in July when she spotted a black-crowned night heron on the hunt.
Incredible footage captured the bird’s epic struggle as it pulled an eel-like salamander called an amphiuma from underwater which was desperately wrapped around a stick.

Amazing footage! That looks like a big Siren (A fully grown/adult one?) the bird caught! The sea creature was struggling, but the hungry Heron managed to fully consume (alive?!) it all okay? It looked like the unlucky thing went down entirely. And wow! does the large salamander stand any chance of escaping if eaten in that condition? Maybe it can turn around inside the elastic throat/stomach and has a chance of survival here.
