David Coverdale has one of the best voices in hard rock/blues rock, in my opinion. He started out with Deep Purple (an English band) in the mid-1970s, and when he founded Whitesnake in the late 1970s, it was more of a blues-rock band. When the 1987 album came out, it was pegged as 'hair metal' (I was 10 years old that year). If you want something more recent, check out Whitesnake's massive 2004 live performance of 'Judgement Day'. Or, if you want something completely different (and acoustic), check out Whitesnake, Starkers in Toyko, 'Sailing Ships.' Also, with regard to 80s fashion: Lots of acid wash denim, black leather, men with long, big hair, wearing makeup (your rock stars, anyway)...it looks ridiculous now, but it was normal then! :)

Guitarists have been using a bow to play the guitar since the 60ies. The Creation with the song "Painter Man" were the first I think, even before Jimmy Page of Led Zeppelin did it. In this song the bow is just show, it is a synthesizer you actually hear.

I was about 13 in 1988 and in middle school...grew up with the 80s hair era...It was all about having fun, rock and roll, women and sex, drugs and alcohol...for me as a teen it was all about I couldn't wait to get home fron school and turn on MTV and jam to the rock videos while doing homework...or cranking up the Nintendo, going outside and playing and riding my bike, talking on the phone for hours to girls from school, bowling, fishing, and just enjoying life without a care in the world. You could talk to anybody about great rock music cause it was on EVERY station on the radio and everyone knew the bands...A great time to grow up in for sure 😎👍 I miss it so much now and days 😔😔

Ahh....the '80s, the decade hairdressers ruled the world. These giys were all a major fire hazard!😂🤣😂🤣. Classic song, but the only thing live here was David Coverdale. The man had a serious set of pipes! The band was cĺearĺy miming. Ĺook closer and you can clearly see the guitars were unplugged. To hear what a violin bow actually sound like on a guitar, check out Dazed and comfused by Led Zeppelin live in MSG '73. Really cool, iconic stuff. Fun fact: David Coverdale actually recorded an album with Jimmy Page in '93, simply titled Coverdale Page. It's pretty good.👍🍻

Skin tight jeans, cowboy boots, short jackets with big shoulder pads. Scarves and bracelets, black eyeliner, big hair - and the girls were similar! I love 80's Whitesnake, even though I once heard someone describe David Coverdale as looking like Jon Bon Jovi's grandad during this period! Thanks Daniel. Am back reliving my teens! 🤗

the thing with the violin bow sounds amazing because it's a recording. the music ( not the vocals ) is playback other wise the violin effect will sound a whole different.

I met singer Dave Coverdale and his wife 20 years ago when I worked at a restaurant, they sat at my table and I was their server. They were both VERY NICE people, very British calling me "Dahling" lol. He left me 2 tickets at the Will Call. The Scorpions and Dokken were also there with Whitesnake. Great show, they still sounded as they did decades ago!!!!

I'd really love to see more solo Ozzy Osbourne reactions on KZread. He's not doing well physically and what always happens is AFTER an artist "leaves" us people start delving into their careers instead of while they're still with us!! Ozzy songs such as "You Can't Kill Rock n Roll", "Fire in the Sky", "My Jekyll doesn't Hyde", "Black Rain", "Killer of Giants", "No More Tears" and so many many more songs not given attention (except for the more popular ones like Crazy Train)

Not one of the actual musicians who recorded this are on this video. This is where David Coverdale sold his soul for the American dollar. Whitesnake were a great blues based hard rock band so i would suggest to you that you try a song from their earlier days with the real Whitesnake. Perhaps you should listen to the original version of Crying in the rain , or better still, Ain't no love in the heart of the city , taken from the live album, Live in the heart of the city. Try Fool for your lovin , Sweet talker and Blindman. That'll give you a wider view and better music

don't know if anyone else pointed this out, but just in case: they're not playing live. David Coverdale IS singing live, but over the studio version of the song from the album which is playing over the speakers/PA. This is a trick many tv stations utilized in days past.

Dont get too excited about the ‘live’ aspect. David’s vocals were live, but the music wasnt, it was just the recorded music pumped through the PA system. As for the bow on the guitar, no thats just a gimmick and it was done on the video too. Cool gimmick to make you think you’re hearing a violin/string section from a guitar but in fact i believe that was a synth. Interesting fact: all the music you heard there wasnt performed by any of the musicians in the video. The guitarist, bass player and drummer were fired in 1987 literally weeks after they recorded the album and just before the official videos were shot.
