I made stocks and other parts for Luger and P-38 carbines for John Martz Luger carbine maker from Lincoln, California during the 1970s and 1980s and none have been used in any crimes.

You can still own handguns in Australia, you just need more paperwork than before. If you cant fill in a form and keep your nose clean I'd rather you didn't have access to weapons...

I am really enjoying the videos. Are most of the purchases your able to rescue from dealers in Canada or more so from private individuals? Or maybe could you share a quick video of what’s going on up there and how your able to save them. I love hearing those types of stories.

My understanding (per Ian) is that DWM couldn’t manufacture MILITARY Lugers as defined by caliber and barrel length. But they did manufacture Lugers for Finnish military in the 1920s… which the Finns later updated to 9mm. DWM treated the manufacturing as being military guns as far as markings. (few).

  • @LegacyCollectibles

The "Broomhandle" Mauser is a M30 made after 1930 s evidenced by the D.R.P.u.A.P marking on the right side as well as the high serial number. There are also other less obvious differences

Handguns aren't fully banned in Canada yet, but they have banned the transfer of handguns between individuals. You can currently keep what you have and use them but due to this change, if you die, any guns registered to you will either be destroyed or have to be exported out of the country.

  • @Panzermeister36

Correct. And specifically, original Lugers' barrel length is too short making them prohibited devices on top of that.

Not from Canada but ten years ago my girlfriend was renting a house from the daughter of a WWII Vet. One night I found an absolute mint original BYF 42 Black Widow tucked away somewhere in the basement. She knew it existed but had forgotten about it. I tried so very hard to buy that gun but she wanted to "keep it in the family" and gave it to her son. Normally that's OK but he was not going to be a good custodian and I'd hate to see what became of it.

As a dutchman and a gun owner. I honest to god never heard of the word 'rust' being the safety. We call it 'veiligheid' or 'veiligheidspal'. I am not saying its incorrect but would definitely need to search a vocabulary for this. Great video!

  • @oscarkromhout7621

Correction. you're probably right haha! 'rust' also means 'rest' so they probably meant 'resting postition' cool. You could say the gun is 'resting' in that position. Bit weird but probably what they meant. Just came to me a minute after placing the first reaction.

No, the British proof marks on the Vickers Luger wouldn't have been applied after it was returned to the UK from the DEI. The pistol would have been proofed in the UK at the time of assembly because that's what British law requires, which is to say, that a firearm has been 'tested' (proofed), as safe, before being sold to a customer, foreign or domestic.
