@WillBoysel I know its shit, the frame time spikes of 600ms happen because its cpu limited. Its not been optimised for multi core/ threaded performance

The -dx12 argument/parameter works on retail as well. I went from ~70 fps to ~115 fps when spawning in on the first mission. Everything maxed out @ 1440p w/ no DSR on a 12gb RTX 3080, i7-11700K (8C/16T @ 5.0 ghz,) and 32 gigs DDR4 @ 3600mhz. I really appreciate this vid. I was about to limit my frames to 60 (yuck.) Subbed.

dx12 actually improved my performance a lot. I were cpu bound, dx12 seems much less heavy for cpu. Game stutters a bit at first while shaders compiling or whatever its doing but then I get smooth framerate. Thanks

Big tip I can give when using DX12: go into your driver settings and force multi core usage for the program instead of leaving it on "auto". I got higher framerates but I would either get stutters or crashes without forcing multi core usage.

I have a 3070, the game ran pretty smoothly up until I switched it to run in dx12 which gave me some stuttering

To anyone interested, aside from switching to dx12, this is essentially just upscaling your game from 80% screen resolution while also allowing you to turn off vigilante and change the anti-aliasing, which are both more personal preference and generally don't have a large impact on performance. This works, sure, but I'd still like to know how youtubers are naturally getting high fps numbers while we're struggling to hit a consistent 60 fps even on high end hardware. My guess is still denuvo, as it's had a major impact on performance in every game that has it.

I didnt change anything yet and i get aroung 125 fps naturally on wqhd and ultra. Just now hearing that people are having trouble with performance so maybe it is normaly okay and this might just be a bug? Idk

-dx12 worked great for 2-3 matches, now the game wont open in dx12 for some reason, gives me an error every time i try to open the game. Changed to dx11 and the game starts right up every time, i dont know what the issue is her.

i have a 3090ti and its barely utilising its full power, meanwhile my cpu is running at 1% utilisation lol. Switching to dx12 did help but introduced some stutters

i dont know if its just me but after i put it in dx12 i start to get small lagspikes every 30sec

DX12 is flat out garbage. It's going to bring more frames on high draw counts but otherwise is a step down on every aspect of DX11 and does not play well with CPUs boasting a lower clock rate which excacerbate stutters. Stick with DX11 unless you have high clock rate CPU.

gonna be honest, super hyped for payday 3 and even got early access into the beta when the first wave hit, i was super excited to play until i realized just how laggy and poorly optimized the game is, i played on the absolute lowest settings possible and even closed and force shutdown every other task that took huge amounts of ram or cpu usage in my pc and it was still running at about 20 fps, my pc is sorta older its an 8th gen I7 with a 1050ti graphics card that can run modern games pretty well and have ram to spare so im gonna give in and buy payday 3 sometime soon and i really REALLY hope this works cause i really want to play this game badly

Yeah so far the Beta isn’t optimized i’m sorry but 3080 with under 100fps is criminal in a fast paced game like this… Hope that full release will be better Ik this is an older beta version.

Don’t get me wrong I love your guides and you do a great job! But I hate that no games on pc ever release optimized anymore. We always gotta go online to find optimization guides for games to run on our MODERN gpus/systems. Wish they would take the extra time to sort these things out.

@@jamwasdI dont think so. Just look at the battlefield franchise. BF1 beta was amazing and the game is. Not the battlefield 2042. I think every dev will want their potential customer to see their best current game state. It might be 10% better in best case scnerio

@@austin4095 runs fine on my 6600xt Everything is at high (not ultra) no upscaling, Dx12 and let shaders complie. 100fps stable drops to 80 fps stable in action. Are you absolutely sure you're using directx12?

Haven't tried it myself, but that's probably the old dreaded shader compiling. It should go away permanently after awhile, that is until you get a new graphics driver, or they release a patch.

Just to explain to people why your performance may get worse before it gets better: dx12 has more shader compiling issues. So in practical terms that means it's going to stutter for awhile particularly when you first load up a map after the switch, then it's going to save that data and you'll be fine for future sessions (at least until you have a gpu driver update or they patch the game). Not sure if that's what's happening for people, but this is a known difference between dx11 and dx12 a known "feature" of this engine, and the problems most people are describing sound like this.
