    The LPF on the SolidGold does make it a nice always on DI candidate, to get that attenuated tweeter tone.

    This is crazy, but I actually like the low gain tone of the BOD100. The BOD400 has taken it's place in the Behringer catalog, so I'm curious if they are significantly different.

    Came here to say this. Pretty blown away it was one of the top 3 for me. The EBS sounds like it would be great for flats since it drives the lower ranges more. The barbershop would be the best always on for me.

    I think a lot of folk still struggle to accept that a plastic case doesn't negatively impact the sound. But you are quite right, for such an inexpensive pedal it more than holds its own.

    It doesn’t sound good on its own , I run it through a cab simulator and it shines… it’s probably my fave dirt when going through a cab sim, I use it with an MS60b cab simulator… Oh and the drive knob is slightly on to get the sweet spot on the boss… the boss dime’d gain is a no go! The magic lies when using the right amount of blend and gain and the treble tone knob dial’d back a bit…

  • @Andyanddiana467

    Nice comparison but note that on the VT bass, flat is bass and mid at 1:00, highs at 11:00. Also, slow down with the knob twisting; give us a second to hear the tone before tweaking 😂

  • @Andyanddiana467

    @Andyanddiana467

    @@BassStuff Tech 21 has said that publicly on Talkbass and other forums. Granted, it's strange that they would set up the knobs that way (seems counterintuitive to the way most bassists would think), but it's true. Others on the forum did spectrographs, and low and behold, those settings are indeed flat.

  • @BassStuff

    @BassStuff

    7 ай бұрын

    Ooo wow, thanks for the info ! Never heard that. They wrote that in the manual: "LOW, MID, HIGH. Unlike passive controls that only cut, these active tone controls cut or boost ±12dB from unity gain (12 o’clock). MID is custom tuned to 12dB @ 500 Hz ". That's a bit confusing.

  • @Andyanddiana467

    @Andyanddiana467

    7 ай бұрын

    Yeah, it's very confusing and totally contradicts the manual. But that's indeed what they admitted to on the forum. I THINK (educated guess) that they tried to emulate how the SVT tonestack works. Not sure though. @@BassStuff
