“Huge Amount Of Sleaze In The Commons” | Whipless MPs Total Rises To 18 After Menzies Suspended
The number of Independent MPs has now risen to 18 after Mark Menzies lost the Conservative whip over allegations he misused campaign funds.
A series of scandals and disciplinary problems have seen a large number of MPs lose the party whip over the course of the current Parliament, with several going on to either resign their seats or be recalled by their constituents.
Of the current group, which totals three more MPs than the Liberal Democrats, includes eight former Conservatives and seven former Labour MPs, along with one each from the SNP, DUP and Plaid Cymru.
The latest, Mark Menzies, is alleged have used thousands of pounds given by donors to fund medical expenses and to have made a late-night call to a 78-year-old aide asking for help because he had been locked up by “bad people” demanding money for his release.
The Fylde MP disputes the allegations but the Conservative Party is looking into the claims and taking them seriously.

Menzies has been a parliamentary aide to three Tory ministers - but resigned the last of these roles in 2014, after a newspaper reported allegations from a Brazilian male escort that he paid him for sex and asked him to buy an illegal drug. At the time, Mr Menzies said a number of the allegations were untrue and he "looked forward to setting the record straight".

our entire political system and the way we elect mps needs to be totally changed to weed out deviants, tokens, box tickers , bankrupts, chancers, dodgy dealers, fraudsters, idiots and the morally and mentally challenged. our current system is irredeemably corrupt and cannot be repaired. then we must start on the geriatric house of lords which is full of the same.
Debate on excess deaths this afternoon also largely unattended by the vast majority of our brave and committed MPs.

If it had been on diversity or some other right on shite they would have all been there eating and drinking subsidised rations, nodding sagely, gravely and harrumping. Most of them make me sick.
It’s strange that these ‘bad people’ haven’t been arrested? Surely a situation where an M.P is being held captive would warrant a police investigation? 🤔
If this was any other place of work the police would have shut it down,the amount of sleaze is unprecedented
Menzies reaction just sums it up. Next thing Sunak will be patting him on the back for thinking so quickly at 3 am.

@@Bluejohn Yes, he knew that the Tories were sitting on a story involving one of their MPs but couldn't find the time to investigate for himself or report what he knew at the time.
Can you tell me who is getting the most suspended MPs from all political parties and who is getting less suspended MPs from all political parties and Can you tell me how many suspended MPs are they altogether?
