💚 HUGE 4ft AXOLOTL AQUA TERRARIUM: Adding LOTS Of Fish // PLANTED AQUARIUM & PALUDARIUM

Үй жануарлары мен аңдар

1st Job MD'ers...like the video for me. It helps more than you know! Can we hit 2000 likes???
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
In the last video of this tank, we prepared to add more fish by raising the water level and the rocks that stop Pancho from going behind....
After that, I got very busy with other projects...but now is the time to add those fish... and I got a LOT of fish!!
Customary appearance from my boys as well :)

Thank you all for your concern expressed in some of the below comments. Regarding the gills....they are exactly as they have been since i first got Pancho...nothing has changed with or without the addition of these fish. Regarding the light, Pancho has a lot of places she can hide in caves etc and still does not which would indicate to me she is happy with the lighting, plus the light looks brighter on camera. Regarding developing a fungus and becoming sick....it's been basically a month since this video was published and she is looking better than ever! Thank you very much for commenting and watching my videos :)

MD Fish Tanks He’s going to get sick and he’s going to die. He’s going to be exposed to fish borne illness because he is in a contained environment with fish which is a no-no. I don’t know why you’re being so stupid and stubborn just to prove a point and kill an animal

I have a Male axolotl same morph and hes about 3 time the size definitely older then yours by a little its beautiful to watch him grow with as many plants as I have I don't have to do as many water changes either the light isn't a issue hes by a window he has a natural day and night cycle and he eats any fish I put in my tank the more I put the quicker they go lol but bottom feeders like ghost shrimp and snails help with the purity of my water as well I think you are amazing and every axolotl deserves a more biological setup such as your. Keep up your amazingness lol

And Robert press to you sir unless you are a major in aquatic sciences and or a axolotl breeder or expert worry about your own fish tank. If you don't like how he keeps his aquatic life then just don't watch his video they are schooling fish with small bones so they can't hurt his axolotl and if the axolotl eats them there is no impaction when he/she poops and if MD got these fish from a proper pet store there shouldn't be and illness that little axolotl can get. So don't judge unless you know all your facts and the tank is big enough with enough places to hide the axolotl and fish can remove them selves quite easily

Add some hides in for your axoltol to be able to feel safe more often and hide it's gills away from those other fish. Your set inspired me to get a planted tank for mine. I love your tank setup and all the plants for the axolotl and great choice for substrate! Though, If you plan to keep the light on your tank I would recommend getting a water safe reptile cave so it can escape the light when it needs to. Also, it is safe to keep cloud minnows with axolotls if supervised but other fish will nip at their gills and have spines that can hurt the axolotl if it eats one. There is also a risk of choking if it tries to eat the snail. A good rule with axolotls is to just keep it an axolotl only tank.

  • @MDFishTanks

thanks for the comments. There is a full cave structure in the tank in the shaded area. Danios and WCMM do not nip at my axolotls gills. I have observed for months and zero issues. This is Pancho's tank...she's the BOSS!!

Stunning tank! I'm assuming Pancho has passed away as we haven't seen him in 3 years- While I love the tank, for any Axolotl keepers, please remember they prefer dark and still water. Sacrificing their comfort for a beautiful tank is cruel & there are numerous parts of this tank that would stress Pancho out severely and lead to developing disease or infection.. It's much more important to create the best living conditions for the animal first and foremost, & design the best you can from there without sacrificing their comfort. I'm still a big fan of MD and his designs, but it's obvious the animals are second to the scape.

I'm confused. I was considering a getting an axolotl to do a 'dragon in the mountain' theme but I decided against it since I read that they can't be kept with fish. They try and succeed with eating fish. If the fish has a lot of sharp fins they can choke the axie and kill it. Good luck to you but I would advise being on high alert especially when the axie gets bigger.

I've commented before about you possibly joining an axolotl group on Facebook because I feel like you could gain knowledge from it. To me, the gills or "fluffs" on your axolotl do not look good and this is probably due to all of the fish in there. It is also possible that if it gets too stressed by the fish it will develop fungus which is potentially life threatening

I'm a member of many fb axolotl groups and there's great info to be found there for sure! But honestly the gills don't look that bad to me. Some axolotls just have lighter gills. When you see the ones that are actually sick there is literally nothing there but a stump. I have one axolotl that has gorgeous floofy gills and one whos gills are fully intact and have many filaments, but they are thin and always have been. I do think he's pushing it with some of the things he has in the tank with them though.

Please do some more research on housing axolotls. These fish will destroy their gills because they look like worms to them. In addition, you should not keep the light on for prolonged periods as they do not like it. This is not a setup for an axolotl. Axolotls also live in lakes so strong water flow ‘like a river’ stresses them out. Please change it.

  • @Salsa-manda

I agree with your point on the lights but the fish he used are some of the safest fish for axolotls

  • @Shychildklax

    @Shychildklax

    3 жыл бұрын

@@Salsa-manda I think they're safe in that they aren't much of a choking hazard (the snail might be if it gets bigger) but they will definitely go for the axolotl's gills. If you look at 15:00 it looks like one tries to take a nip and the axolotl starts backing up afterwards. Obviously, accidents happen with aquariums, however that is way too many fish to be starting with. The first priority should always be the comfort of the animal and then aesthetic comes after that. Some shrimp species are generally OK with Axies but they might end up as food! For the water flow, I'd simply point the outlet at the glass to reduce the flow rate
