I have to admit that I was cringing when I saw you removing the classic paint job. BUT the end result was so much better than I could have anticipated. Proof (if needed) that these kind of restoration projects always come out with a result which is greater than the sum of its parts. And the new paint job looks fantastic!

They don’t. They’re intended to be for dirt jumping but good gumwalls are hard to find now for 26”. For the riding I’ll do with this one it should be fine.

When spary painting a bike it can really go either way... We have all seen those supposed restauration videos that are really just a dude rattle-canning a trash bike...
I absolutely love your content, my favorite part of your videos is when you share memories and stories. It's almost as if life is being shared from an older family member. Keep up the amazing work.

You had me at the Richey Logic cranks, then a supreme resto ! The fact the era of frame & other apt components were bang on made the video truly satisfying. The fact everything was available bespeaks to a truly legendary period of mtbiking.
You are making me fall in love with old bikes again...
This bike turned into something to be hanged on the wall as an art piece. If it were mine, i would not even ride it, so beautiful it became. Great work! Congrats. Very inspiring. I just re-bought a 1994 KHS Aero Sport that used to be mine to restore it inspired by your videos. Cheers from Brazil.
I love bikes, but your videos are much more than bikes. The images, the environment, the soundtrack and everything, makes me think that you are a really good person! A great guy! I'm Brazilian, and I share this video with my girl in France. She will surely love it. Thank you. Tchau!
I have an old 1997 Rockhopper FS Alu framed which I bought new, very similar to this one, (only with the brakes levers on the "wrong" side) You've done it proud!!!

I have started fishing for bikes in the local rivers and canals for bikes to restore and this is because you and a few other KZreadrs so I thank you from my heart 🚲
I have my bro-in-law’s old 22 inch gray&teal Specialized Rockhopper Comp, that he bought new in 1990. He gave it to me in 1997, and despite having other mountain bikes, it’s been my main ride ever since I got it! It’s a bit battle worn nowadays, and I’ve been wanting for years to refinish it in orange paint, but I still Lovvvve that bike! It’s the first bike I ever had, that made me feel like I was flying!
Your videos are so relaxing
What a great looking bike.I am a former bike shop owner & professional wrench & i do the same thing also restoring vintage steel MTB's giving them a new life with some modern changes.Taken vintage MTB's & turning them in cool single speeds & fast commuter slick townie streets bikes.I then donate most of my bikes to my fellow veterans who need some transportation or just want a cool bike to ride, then some i sell for profit to restore more vintage MTB'S.but the best joy is seeing the smiles on the faces i get from the fellow veterans in my town when i give them the a bike for free the thank you's never seem to stop coming these hero's. This must be one of the nicest white paintjobs on a bike that I’ve seen! Fantastic work and as usual a really nice video to watch!
Back around 1995 my brother bought a slate grey Specialized Rockhopper that was full XT equipped and i was like 😍, i was riding a neon orange Haro that i got at a pawn shop for dirt cheap. I road that bike hard like 5 day's a week and it was fun 👍. I was going to buy my brother's bike a few years back because he still had it but my son and i were building up our musical instruments so i passed and he sold it, seeing this Rockhopper brought bacl those old memories of riding back in those day's ☝️.
fantastic job oldshovel !!! The Hudson bay company is the oldest company in North America and has been trading blankets since 1670 and first commissioned the the Thomas Epson textile mill in England to make the striped blanket that they still make today. The company traded these same blankets for furs mostly beaver and minerals like gold that led to the exploration of the North American continent. The company still has stores here in Canada and still sells those same blankets. A lot of history for a blanket and a store.
Wow Man What A Fantastic Bike. Dare I Say Its A Work of Art.

Hey old shovel, I recently found your channel and absolutely love your stuff and have subscribed! I think you should take a photo of the bike before you restore it and one after you have restored it (very similar photos) and cut it down the middle so that half of the end photo is new bike and half is old. Keep up the amazing work!
Thank you for the Spray.Bike paint recommendation, just finished painting my 30 year old mountain bike and it came out great! This paint is amazing and so user friendly.

I'm certain that the young man receiving this bike will be very grateful! Beautiful job as always 👍
Something that might help with your next paint job is to never stop or start your spray over what your spraying. Start spraying before the piece and continue spraying until you are past it, helps eliminate the possibility of runny paint. And this bike turned out absolutely gorgeous!! Please continue to do more!

Those constellations look mint!
What a beautiful design you did for the frame paint job! I was imagining how the bike would look with some luxury components like an electronic SRAM shifter & dropperpost, a fox factory-fork and some Formula Cura-4 breaks. That great frame would deserve such. :)))

Musicsson even though you have some extra cash to burn for those components you mention it wont fit to the frame like the dropper post, the seat post diameter of that model is one of a kind very hard to find and also the fox factory fork the headtube is standard i think its 1inch diameter and it doesnt have caliper post for the disc brake
