mrphiscal why would you want that? If ever you go to sell the wheels, you are limiting your resale but not only that, they are made to be removable. That is why I do not run the metal ones as I find they bond to the wheel or hub after a while.

Hey guys, great video, my question is....I had plastic hub rings installed for 1 summer on new wheels. When removing to install winters 2 of the hub rings were cracked thru but a clean break. Can I reuse these rings? Once compressed into wheels they close back up to the original size. Thanks in advance

I am looking for some new wheels. I am looking at some wheels that go from 60.1 (my car) to 66.1. Hub rings seem to have a lip. Do all wheels (infinity QX50) have a recess for this lip? It is a long drive and the person does not know. I can not imagine it is safe to have this gap. Thanks

Question. My rims bore is 73.0 and my cars hub bore is 66.06 but all I could find is a 73 to a 66.1. Will that 0.4 make a difference? Almost all of the ones I see online say 66.06/66.1 and never just the one size.

Hi can I use hub centric rings with a 5mm wheel spacer (non hub centric)? I got kyo ei 5mm wheel spacer, and planning to install hub centric rings on my aftermarket wheels. I'm bothered that it may not sit properly coz of the 5mm space? Hoping for your reply

  • @konigwheels

So there are a few things to consider here and we've spoken about it in other videos talking about spacers / adapters. 1. You ned to make sure you have enough thread engagement (go check that video on our channel). Remember 5mm of spacing = 5mm less of thread engagement. 2. when you use a non hubcentric spacer you need to look at the hub to see how much of the hub lip will protrude beyond the spacer. If you have 5mm or so a hub ring should still be able to be utilized. Just be careful getting it affixed to the vehicle. Hope that helps!

It doesn't matter. You can either put the hub-ring on the hub or put it in the wheel first. We've found with experience though that it's easier to insert it into the back of the wheel first rather than try to line it up on the hub blindly. Good to go either way though as long as it's seated properly.

  • @konigwheels

    @konigwheels

    2 жыл бұрын

Chino, unfortunately that would be useless. The gap that would still exist would by definition make the wheel not hubcentric. So you can do one of a few things. You can do your best to carefully center the wheel using the lug seat. Try and get something under the tire to make sure it takes the weight off the wheel and tire and you have a better shot at getting it real close. Again this is not hubcentric but if you can get it there without much vibration it may be good enough for you. Next you can buy a bigger OD set of plastic hub rings and ask a machine shop to turn them down yo the 76.1 you need. There is one other hack but not super accurate so I’ll stop here. Lol

Hey Daniel, I'm confused on the second part of your question when you mention "the wheel don't even go in the studs". That center bore is extremely odd. But if you're correct then 66.1 will most likely be tight when in the wheel. Sometimes the bores are opened up by .1mm to allow for minor corrosion on hubs.

TattedUp Tv most aftermarket wheels will require hubrings. If it doesn’t fit in your wheel, it’s the wrong ring for your wheel.

Sorry we missed this! So try putting the hubring into the back of the wheel first and see if that works. Also what car do you have? What size right do you have? maybe you just have the wrong rings? Also what wheel do you have. Feel free to message us on FB or IG and we can help you get to the bottom of it!

The hub carries the weight of the vehicle, ever seen someone lose an aftermarket wheel because the lugs sheared off?

Not sure I understand your point. I actually think you just proved that the stud clamping force is what bears the stress of keeping the wheel attached to the hub. The hub lip itself doesn’t

they should just come right out. If they've been on there for a while, they may need a bit of force to get em out, especially if they're metal hub rings.

so the hub and the centre bore of a wheel is supposed to hold the weight of the vehicle not the studs or lugs that why its engineered that way so does that mean centre ring are dangerous if it can not hold the weight hmhmhmhmhmhmh ???????????????

  • @konigwheels

The wheel is held on to the car and the weight of the vehicle distributed to the wheel by its attachment of the wheel to the car. The wheel is attached through its clamping force against the hub of the vehicle through the fastening hardware. A hub-centeric ring is essentially a dowel pin to allow for the proper alignment of the wheel before it is torqued down.

So here's the question, how do you measure for a new ring when your tire shop throws them out cause they're plastic? I'm asking cause that's why I'm watching the video, thats literally why 50% of us are here

Hey there, thanks for the question. The easiest way to figure this out is to first Google your vehicle's OEM wheel specifications. www.wheel-size.com lists nearly every vehicle on the planet, so you can find your OEM Center Bore there. Once you have that information, you can send us a message on Facebook or Instagram and ask us what the Center Bore is on the Konig Wheel that you have and boom...you've got your answer!

If you know how to put conical lug nuts on properly your wheels will be centered without rings.

@@konigwheelsyour probably right but if the lug studs are not centric for conical lug nuts you may have a problem that centric rings aren’t going to fix

Wrong! Hub rings are a structural item. It assures that the weight of the vehicle is evenly dispersed on to the center protruding lip of the hub, and lug bolts. Hence, the reason you get vibration without them. The rim must rest on to that lip. The lug nuts are also designed to be tapered to secure the rim to the hub centrally, assuring a smooth, SAFE ride, also making it a safety item as well. Remember, anything that holds and disperses weight, is structural. SMH🙄

Samuel. With all do respect we get where you’re coming from but you really think that the 8-13 mm snout on the hub is where the weight of the wheel is supposed to go? The weight of the whee is carried through the studs and evenly distributed through the clamping force of the installation hardware. Don’t get me wrong we want people to run hub centric rings however the reason you get vibration when a wheel isn’t centric to the hub is because of the longitudinal runout that os created. If the weight and force of the wheel was being supported by that small hub lip you’d see the leverage of the wheel take that off with that much force. Furthermore while the term “lug centric” is an old outdated term for getting it close using the seat of the mounting hardware, people long before us did this as standard practice for decades. We appreciate you watching and commenting.

Some wheels are designed to be hub-centric, and some are lug-centric. If OEM is hub-centric, then you need hub rings; otherwise, under high load you could snap the lugs/bolts off.

total BS.. The wheel nuts CENTRE the wheel on the hub. A plastic or alloy ring does nothing more than hold the wheel NEAR central until you do the nuts up.

When your wheel's centerbore does not match your vehicle's hub size, fastening your lugs on alone won't ensure a hub-centric fit. A hub-centric ring isn't necessary when your wheel's centerbore size perfectly matches your vehicle's hub size.
