I got so used to the programmable (by bxActions app) "Bixby" key on mine S9+, that I would not buy another flagship without a programmable key. Would not cash in again that amount of money and loose the button. Shame some low-range Huawei phones have programmable key but none of their flagships have it.

Well, if you are not a fan of the notch in Huawei phones, you can simply hide it! Just go to Settings > Display > Notch > Hide Notch. Then it will look like any other Samsung phone if you prefer it. Huawei is the crossbreed of Samsung and Apple, and it might soon take over Samsung. Why not? It has already won over Apple.

I had my mate 20 pro since it became available in UK and this point I can confirm that speaker isn't great but I definitely wouldn't say it's bad. Day to day performance is a deal breaker. Now it's been over a year since I owned it and I'm very satisfied with Mate 20 pro.

Anyone trying to buy mate 20 pro I would wait for Samsung s10. I am sending my mate 20 pro back to the retail. Mate 20 pro green tint screen issue and WiFi software problems.

Just because you had a faulty device doesn't mean they all are ha ha. I've had my mate 20 Pro for 11 months 2 weeks now and absolutely loving it! Well spent money!

I have the s9+. But love the huawei! I'm so jealous. But I find something that almost all reviewers overlook... The sensor array on the back of the s9+.

If you hide the notch...does it still show if you watch youtubevideos in full screen??

I got s9 plus.. not because its cheaper today but i see lots of people complaining about the screen issue of the mate20pro. Its a beast but, cant go wrong with samsung.

My record screen on time with my S9 was around 9-10 hours, so I don't know how you got 6. Nice video tho, good to see that the S9 still stands tough

The Mate camera is noticeably better for photos. It has way better dynamic range on the front camera too. The S9 is so blown out.

Mate 20 pro puts those artificial looks to a photo by pumping up colours and contrast and make a photo look more appealing and at the same time it looses a lot of details.... just zoom in on photos of both note 9 and Huawei's photo and you'll see what i am talking about.... and at night, huawei takes about 10 to 15secs to capture a shot when night mode is turned on.....if that mode is turned off, then note 9 is a clear winner....

@@muhammadawais7597 Not actually. The Mate 20 Pro can shoot 40mp which is waaay more detailed especially when zooming. It's amazing. And even without night mode it's amazing. Night mode takes max 4 seconds.

Sound is poor on Huawei

a lot of google updates copy features on samsung....and samsung updates it's interface and apps often... the newer update on notifications and multiscreen are a step backwards

In my country they cost exactly the same, soo than been said, which of these two smartphones would you recomend, the Galaxy S9 plus or the huawei mate 20 pro? Which one would you choose for yourself?

I have the Mate 10 Pro (which is an awesome device) and the Note 9 which resolves issues of the S9+. Both are monster phones. I'm not a fan of notches and I know that Huawei has other large screen sized phones with amazing specs and hardware that can rival any flagship device now. I will say that Huawei pricing per this post is getting expensive almost to the point of flagship standards like Apple and Samsung. My Note 9 is slightly better when it comes to color vibrancy over my HM10P and the use of the Bluetooth pen. I guess I won't be seeing the screen on the HM20P in the US but I already know that it's top notch. Too bad on the politics side since updates for the US version of the HM10P will prolly be nil. I can only speak from my experience with the HM10P in case the HM20P has similar app issues. I've replaced two default apps on my HM10P, the first is the calculator app which doesn't have a history so the free Google calculator app solves that and the other being the messenger app. The HM10P messenger app caps MMS pic files at 300KB's when sending these texts making the pic okay but not crystal clear when using the pinch to zoom. For folks in the US that's important and they don't even consider those situations until they come across this problem when using phone numbers in default texting. There's a free app in the Google Play store called ChompSMS which eliminates the cap issue giving you the ability to set your caps from 1000 to 4000 to unlimited KB's. I don't know if it's an app that only works in the US? Anyhow, third party apps are doable like WhatsApp/Line etc but phone to phone, phone numbers is the go to for me. There is another situation that may or may not be a problem with the HM10P/HM20P for you concerning the Google Assistant, it lags at times when certain apps initiate so you have to wait up to a minute for it to recognize the "OK, Google" command. I find that it's not too much of a problem on my Note 9 though it does seem to lag slightly with the Google Maps and Waze apps but not like the HM10P. I'm very glad to have this Huawei smart device and hope for those of you out there will enjoy the quality of Huawei line family products.

Mate 20 pro is best of the best. Tje absolute flagship of 2018. Nothing comes close

It's the s9 plus for me. EMUI is still crap. Samsungs UI actually has some cohesion to it. EMUI just looks so inconsistent. They haven't even adapted their ux to the notch, as many objects are too close to it and lacks padding.

I don't know why people ignore the fact that the mate 20 pro's glass is a lower quality glass compared to gorilla glass. I was so eager to buy this phone until I found out about the glass thing. its mentioned in a couple of other reviews that it took just a few days of normal use to see some noticeable scuffles / scratches. I've also seen some reviews about other Huawei phones including the P20 pro stating the same issue.

I was seriously thinking about replace my S9+ for Mate 20 pro. After testing of Mate 20 I did not replace. Main reasons was worse sound quality - Horrible speakers and not good audio output. Second problem is EMUI, this is one of the worst UI at Androird... Mate 20 pro is decent good HW, shi** SW

I've owned Samsung galaxies from S2 up to S7 Edge and the S7 was final nail to the coffin which completely made me give up on Samsung. I absolutely can not stand Samsung's UI. I have tested the S9+ before purchasing HW Mate 20 Pro and it only made me sure I don't want Samsung again.

October 2019, Curry's UK sells S9+ 128GB for £649. 99 and Huawei Mate 20 Pro 128GB for £499.99. I recommend Huawei :-D

I'm a bit perplexed. The portrait views at 9:17 seem to be the wrong way around. That shot claims to be the S9 Plus but looks beautified as is the Mate 20, and the previous Mate 20 shot has seemingly no beautify as if S9 Plus. Am I missing something?

Great review. I was set on purchasing the Huawei Mate but you saved me. The nano memory card is a deal breaker since the built in memory is only 128gb. I'll just stick with my note 9.

Go for s9 plus as it has a hesdphone jack no notch better display with a lower price then mate 20 pro where as mate 20 pro is good at battery and that wireless charging other phones

Watching this wkth my new Iphone XS max really makes me feel pain in heart huhu

Am looking at this phone considering it because my note 9 was stolen days ago. Then I look closer and 10:06 is where I live. E2 .now that has totally blown me away. Out of all the different videos that exist describing this phone I choose this one. Sadly further back on the same street, I was robbed , a moped came onto the pavement and snatched the phone out of my hand. Note 9 at least they didn’t Stab me. You got to be super vigilant nowadays. Don’t hold your phone with one hand looking at it . If you do makes sure your gripping really tight. Thanks for your in-depth review. Nicely shot and presented. I think I now know my replacement?

I'm really sorry to hear this! I was almost robbed on the same street when I tested the night camera quality. A few suspicious guys approached and asked for a cigarette... but I managed to walk back the apartment build quickly.

techline - Linus thanks to your video and pretty much the main reason . I just purchased the mate 20 pro. Gets delivered in a couple of days🤞🏽and when it does I’ll leave a comment. I was going to get the Note 9. Again but I changed my mind at the last minute. This one I will be SUPER CAREFUL!

This is the only thing I hate about Toronto. It's not that safe looks like any other big cities of US in terms of crime

notch, i just dont like it. And im so glad Samsung doesnt use it. I like the Pixel 3 as well but the S9+ overall just seems like a better phone

Roland Turbucz but also on huawei u can hide the notch and after u hide it the screen size still bigger than s9+

yeah i know but thats just feels weird for me, I accept notch is the trend and im glad we still get phones without notch(xiaomi, samsung etc etc)

Can you turn off the LED notification thing? I’m getting the huawei mate 20 pro soon and I’ve been using my iPhone X since it came out and been using iPhones since the iPhone 5 came out. I have no clue about androids

Yes you can swith it off in Settings - Notifications - More Notification settings - Pulse notification light.

I like them both , but I'd probably go the note 9 instead . As someone with large hands having the narrow narrow screen is a minus not a plus. Headphone jack = win , s pen, dex, all features i like and use. Having said all that it would be nice to have the 20 pro just for camera use in some circumstances. The mate x looks more attractive than the pro imo.
