Totally agree!

I for one can say police do pocket money if your caught speeding..That happens in many places over Thailand.I got stung with a radar and paid up to keep going.Was a different experience…If I did what I did in my country I probably wouldn’t have a license.My wife is Thai and she helped me through many checkpoints around Thailand as far as Chaing Rai it helps if someone can speak their language..

Was in Hua Hin for 10 days Dec ‘22. Beautiful city, close to Bangkok, has everything. Great place to retire, or if you have income from outside sources. Probably tough to live, work, and support yourself locally.

Interesting comments but the majority of the disadvantages could apply to any town/city in Thailand. Police checkpoints are everywhere and “tea money” is common, especially in Pattaya where I lived. There’s nowhere in Thailand that a westerner would be able to drop there resume off and get a job without a valid work permit. I was transferred from the UK and that was a bureaucratic nightmare for the company I worked for. I spent six months in Hua Hin this year living between soi 88 and 94 and agree with most of what you’ve said, and have been visiting it since 2010. The beach is mostly clean, there’s the odd areas that do get a lot of Thai visitors that could be better. Overall it’s a great beach to walk and I did daily, also there’s a group of expats who litter pick every Sunday. As for being charged higher, again dual pricing is rife throughout Thailand, but I think it’s all relative and you have the choice to walk away. One “pro” you didn’t mention is how easy it is to get to Bangkok, this gives you the best of both worlds in my opinion.

We have a condo in Hua Hin, currently empty because were still in the US. rents are very cheap. A person could save $15,000 to $20,000 a year living in this great beach community!

Thank you so much for your kind words. We really enjoyed being in Hua Hin, have to go back again. We know of a guy who has been returning back to Hua Hin, on and off for decades now and he has seen all of it's changes, loves the town and loves going back every year.

Which part of Hua Hin would you suggest to live?

Im living in mae phim beach, rayong. Here you have a small northern europe community however they speak others languages between them and usual dont use english. Im thinking to move to hua hin look relaxed and people from many countries. Here the rental cost is to overpriced for the area.. i think because dont exist much offer. I already lived in many provinces and cities around thailand on the last 5 years... Chiang Mai, Koh Samui, Nonthaburi, Bangkok and now in Rayong.. Thinking to move to Satthaip or Hua hin.

I used to live in Ban Chang n worked in Sattahip yard, Kilo 10 in Sattahip is pretty good cheap n closer to Pattaya however we don't have any bar farangs here n no Tesco here too

What city in Thailand are you talking about? Cheng mai?

@@roninblue5885 Thanks. Oh, and just an FYI. In the US when you get a dental cleaning, they clean your teeth and your gums. in Thailand, they just clean your teeth. You need to request a gum cleaning to get the full experience.

You need to look harder for nice stretches of beach they are there.

what about khao takiab beach? near hua hin but maybe more tranquil and more nature than deep in the city, but close enough to get a taxi into the city.

What about the polluted Beach water and dangerous jellyfish there?

It's actually not Hwah, it's Hoo-ah. I discovered this in Nakhon Pathom train station. She had no idea what I was saying. Two rising tones - Hoo ah Hin.

Ronin, you were in Hua Hin a month when you did this video. Do you stay there permanently? Safety - we lived in a "Pool Villa" for six months. I think Soi 88. There was a security guard at the gate. Sadly, as time went on crime began to increase. We did not experience it but a European family did. Water - the quality was pretty bad and as the switched Hua Hin water supply is worse. Roads - the roads to/from the Sois are in very poor repair. Traffic - the drivers are aggressive and even with red lights at cross walks many ignore them. Noise - it gets very noisy even up in the hills at the Villas and the traffic noise is high. Flooding - as soon as it rains streets flood. The gov't was given millions of baht to clean up the drains and of course graft took it. We moved to Sam Roi Yot after six months. Quiet, peaceful, etc. We drive in/out of HH every tens days or so for medical (very good at Bangkok Hospital there) and go to malls for groceries (BluPort), Villa Mkt, and now the Tops Mkt. I would not live in Hua Hin but it is a nice place to visit.

how are you finding the heat and humidity and adjusting? Is it just april may that is so hot? I see its around 90 degrees every day with humidity.

Dear Gianna, Ronin and I stayed in Hua Hin in November, and the heat and humidity were tolerable and mostly pleasant. Sometimes we slept without AC. My average pulse during my sleep is around 70, but it was 50 while in Hua Hin, according to fitbit :) ~Samy

I think I can manage it. cant import guns or porn. going over the no import list. importing a car is ridic hard. but oh well. tired of the 600 a mont prop taxes and 500 a month utilities before I even get to the mortgage. I'm ready to be free. the us is basically impossible and once you have a medical hit you're bankrup and a slave workin till 67

It's very frustrating when they charge you extra. Usually we are in locations for extended periods and given I refuse to ever use a shop or vendor again if they charge me extra it usually means they lose out and we have to find somewhere else that is less convenient. We find out a couple of months in that the cafe downstairs from us in the Balkans was charging us extra than the locals we knew for our coffees. We then went to frequent another place and then walked them back in past them every day with our takeaway coffees.

Yes Hua-Hin is good place for living..4 star..for me only two things not so good 1.No walking path along beach 2.Sun not go down over sea..so no romantic walking on beach at sunsets 🤣

The pm 2.5 is horrible in Hua Hin, worse than Bangkok usually. On most days it was over 120. The burning season is just as bad as the North. On most days, it was dirtier air in Hua Hin than in Nonthaburi. Don't believe me, check your air conditioner filter.

Lived in Japan for 6 years, most do not stop for you at crosswalks, in fact a friend of mine was hit by a car in Japan on his bicycle because the guy didn't stop, so that's why I feel strongly about it, here is an article below to back it up as well. Hey, thanks for the reply. Yes, my observations are based of my own experiences in Tokyo, what happens to me and what I see around me, having lived here over ten years. Sometimes even when approaching a crossing the cars already stopped. Thanks also for sharing the article, this is certainly different from my experience. So sorry to hear about your friend. The cyclists seem much more dangerous here, where they cycle on the path, I have almost been hit several times. Anyway, thanks again for sharing your experiences, enjoying the videos 👍✌🏻

Burning season is where forested area nearby mountainside's are burned to make room for new crops usually in a two month period around February and March. Happens in Chiang Mai, on the clock every year and you'll be breathing in smoke...for that time period. It's an issue for some and may or may not be an issue for you but it doesn't happen in Hua Hin though.

I had a checkpoint on the back of scooterride a friend, they wanted to check on drugs, even checked my wallet. whilst he did that his collegue distracted me. end of story the copper took 5000 thb out of my wallet, quite embarrising as I couldn't pay my friend for her taxi and massage service afterwards. I went to atm just before getting on her scooter. so keep your eyes on your wallet, even if its a cop holding it, (checking ??? on drugs)

I see that Hua Hin has nice beaches, but how is the water, is it clean enough to go swimming in. I've been to Pattaya, and won't go into the water there.

You won’t like the water in Hua Hin, it’s much cleaner in Pattaya. Beaches are lovely though! I was told the sea is so cloudy/muddy because of farming waste (I.e mud) flowing into the sea. Personally I am still happy to swim in it, being from the UK I’m used to this cloudy water, but the clear azure blue water is only down south now. P.s I lived in Hua Hin for 5 years, so know it super well.

By the way, I’m a big big fan of the place - just replying to your comment about the sea. The water quality is better in Pattaya, but if that troubles you, then Hua Hin sea won’t meet your satisfaction.

They are swimmable but not as nice as Hawaii!

You should know that's a mangrove forest if you live there dude.

If you stay until year end, you'd get cool weather. Sometimes it's so cold that you'd need a thick jacket or sweater. Btw it's an Asian practice to bargain and it's not a big deal. There are some really lovely beaches south Hua Hin within 30 mins drive and with wide sidewalks. You should have done more research.

I'm walking through the Pranburi Mangrove forest park, about a 30min drive down south from the Hua Hin downtown area.

Ok..what happen,cost living, like rent,condo or apt,ect..was up with this?, is important why you left it out?the rest the stuff any tourist can find about!

For the price charges more than local, should be avoid and do the same as local do. For the pedestrian, it is not good condition even for Thai. Should be aware for danger from car/motorbike. Hopefully, should do be better. Garbages are main problem in Thailand but getting less due to govt. campagin.
