Thank you so much for this video - im 52 and live in Spain and am in the process of (wanting) to move to HRT treatment but my gynaecologist needs approval from my haematologist (I have Essential Thromocitemia although NEVER suffered from thrombosis). I learnt so much from Louise who I already knew and by coincidence have an appt with her next week so am going fully armed and even prepared a 1-page summary. Thank you thank you!!!!!

Bless you my mother had a severe stroke. She had had a clot in her leg when young. More knowledge within the medical field needs to be done.

Thank you, very informative. I am italian and have Factor V in heterozigosis and MTHFR in homozigosis. I only found out because of repeated loss of pregnancy. I am now getting into premature menopause at 38 and I was so sad my doctor told me not to have HRT. I will now insist or change doctor...

Very informative! Watched until the end. Thank you for sharing. Thanks for trying to change the outdated narrative on HRT for women's health.

I am 42. Diagnosed with lupus and other 4 autoimmune diseases. I had a DVT this is how I found I had lupus cause I almost die . A year later I got a hysterectomy done because I have chronic hemorrhages and I was anemic . Now that I am quite balance in terms in health I am gaining a lot of weight . And have low levels of ESTRADIOL AND ESTRONE I can’t get HRT my hematologist said is not safe due to my DVT. But my primary doctor said he is in disagreement that is not fair for a woman to live with hormones imbalance. But now I don’t know what to do . Sometimes I lose hair my weight is increasing I hope for a good alternative

This video is so useful. I have factor v Leiden and am on transdermal HRT. I’m so lucky to have a menopause specialist and a haematologist who actually know enough about their speciality to be able to help me. Appalling that so many women are given the wrong advice.

I was just diagnosed with Factor Vii thrombosis. I am suffering terribly with menopause. But, I’m only on Asprin for now. Do I need a blood thinner to take the estrogen patch? Any help will help me.

That’s exactly the course of treatment that I was considering. The patch along with a blood thinner. My haematologist recommended it and I suggested it to my gynaecologist. Unfortunately it’s all a bit backward in my country. Is anyone else on that?

I have taken notes I am a lady of 52 I am in the Menapause and recovering from spinal cancer which happened in 2017 Now I feel the radiotherapy was the cause of my Menapause being brought on. I suffer from great fatigue and hot flushes wow I shower up to 5 times a day. Omg I visited my doctors and he said no to HRT because I suffered a blood clot in 2017 after my operation. I was prescribed the blood thinner injections for 6 weeks and tablets for 6 weeks. I will be going back with my notes to pick up a prescription for the Gel or spray or patch shameful that doctors are not fully trained in Menapause

I take HRT & have for a year. I live in Los Angeles & was able to get the pill & patch easily. At age 46 I was having hot flashes, dryness, night sweats, heart palpitations & sometimes pain with sex. I am 1 year in & all my symptoms are gone. Lullaby patch 0.075 MG & 100 MG of Progesterone

I had DVT which resulted in PE in 2016. I am now on blood thinners for life. My grandfather died of PE and my dad also had blood clots. I am 49 and experiencing bad perimenopausal symptoms. My GP feels HRT may be too risky but is consulting a haematologist. Naturally, I wouldn't want to put myself at further risk but am I in any danger of further PE if I take HRT via gel or patches?

Sue, from what I have learned through the menopause groups that I am in on FB, the transdermal method of taking oestrogen (patch or gel) is the safest method, gold standard, these days, with no (or almost no) risk of blood clots. If you go to the Newsom Clinic website, they have a lot of information, and there is also a free app called Balance that explains everything very well. You can take some of the info to your GP. It's also possible to take local oestrogen vaginally if you have symptoms in that area. That very low dose and applied topically so also no risk of blood clots.
