I am a Benefits Manager in a large hospital with a background in psychology, sales and marketing. I work in a smaller HR team. Probably too small for our size, but we are expanding. I truly enjoy benefits because it is, at its core, investing in the people that work for the company. Having strong, compassionate leaders in your benefits and leave management is a must. These are the people that will gush over pictures of your newborn baby while helping you add them to your health plan. We get to care for employees through the best and worst days of their lives. If you’re interested in benefits, you need to 1. Be passionate about people and 2. Love a constantly evolving environment. One CON of benefits is that it can be emotionally exhausting, especially for extremely empathetic people.

@@Steph23780I did a bachelors of arts in psychology and then a masters of science in Industrial @ Organizational psychology. I originally thought I would end up in regular HR or organizational development based on my master’s degree, but I found a passion with Benefits,Wellness Programs, and the total rewards side of HR.
This was a great video, very thoughtful and informative! I am a HR Generalist now looking to go into more of a Benefits & Comp role. Thanks for sharing!
I loved your video. Very informative and explained really well. I am wanting to work in benefits only lol because like you said compensation would be such a headache for me. Thank you for sharing this video.
Your videos have me driven on completing my BS: HR Management Degree 🔥
