There's a certain sadness and rawness in this song that you just can't feel from the album version. Favorite Gaslight performance.
This is probably the best they've sounded on their late night appearances.
this song brings tears to my eyes the emotion they put into their songs.... man oh man
I recently came across these guys. They are awesome!!!!!!!
I love their sound. The second guitar is always just doing its own unique thing, and it's all very real.
Every time I put on a live video of these guys, I forget it's live! That's who good they are
the best band of the the past few years!
I love 45, when I first heard it I instantly thought of sink or swim. Terrific song, very excited to hear the new record.
"how about that, you know what i mean? How about that!" god i love letterman
Great,great performance!
Wow this is great Love you guys
Great performance! I love how awkward Dave is after almost every musical guest. He never knows what to say... haha
look who just saved rock and roll. thanks guys.
brilliant as always
@theblazeking89 Yeah, Letterman always sounds stoked after Gaslight plays on his show (well, the 2 times anyway)
Dave loves them!!!
Brilliant!!
Yes!
I think Letterman realized it at the end of this song, mankind isn't doomed to die listening to plastic pop music!
I wasn't even listening to the song, I was just eyeing off Alex's Battle Royale t-shirt...
Its just one song man , songs like orphans and Stay Lucky they are just as powerful as their first record
The Gaslight Anthem and the Hold Steady are the only fucking bands that matter right now...and they always both kill on Letterman.
Brilliant!! way better than when they played it recently on Jimmy Fallon. I was really disappointed when I saw them in Belfast and they didn't play it.....they were still great though :)
Little guy, big music
fucking excellent
Disagree so much with this. First, these aren't pop songs, they don't necessarily need a hook. These are real songs about real things and Brian sings with so much feeling and really puts his soul into everything. If from 2:45ish and on you really can't feel anything or make that connection then I really can't help you.
I don't see the talent. Their songs never have a hook. Just go on forever and ever.
Definitely growing on me. I like the edginess of their earlier stuff though.
I love this fucking band!!
Probably the best band Letterman has been forced into seeing...
@outerheaven8 He's frigging awesome ;D
His voice sounds a little shot but still awesome. Best song on the last album.
awesome Battle Royale shirt, Alex!
Alex is pretty much the coolest dude ever
Would've agreed with you until I heard 45. It's a great return to form.
BRING IT ON
@ColtsGurl18 I know what you mean, it makes sense :)
Against Me! matters as well.
@cooljayhu Levine or Rosamilia? I'd say both. But Rosamilia's guitar skills are killer.
I would love to hear what he is telling them after the mics are off :)
they fuckin rock
@nilruf Sorry ya Levine he's just a cool, slick dude
I love this song but the line about 'give me the children you don't wanna raise', no thanks on that one lol.
wow. they sound like morrisey springfield and the clash all wrapped up in one band

Brian mentions The Clash as an influence in certain interviews I've seen
@KOSMICKEN09 Haha, just to say, Brian Fallon's lyrics aren't always so literal. I know you're just having a laugh, but it's a good place to point out how cryptic and awesome his lyrics are :D
how bout that
is that a battle royale tshirt?
Great performance. Letterman can't even speak after.
See, it's interesting, you think the first one had fire, whereas when I listen to the first one it feels to me like they're still dabbling in punk trying to find their feet, while '59 Sound and American Slang seem to be them hitting their stride, and finding this really cool classic American vibe. Eh, that's just my opinion, though.
lettermen definitely doesn't know who they are ahaa
okay bye
Such nostalgic kids,,,Springsteen's offspring?..maybe? cool? dont know. Who cares. They sound so small in 2011, coulda sounded bigger 15 years ago. We are all so naive now.
I don't know man... I've listened to the record handfuls of times and it just doesn't have the 'holy shit' moments like I Coulda Been a Contender or Red in the Morning. Don't get me wrong, I love gaslight... but their records are loosing the edge they once had.
Real men wear pink
les paul stolen from adam jones
Hate to say it, but this stuff is pretty boring compared to their first record. Sink or Swim had fire.
