A scale model is most generally a physical representation of an object that maintains accurate relationships between all important aspects of the model, although absolute values of the original properties need not be preserved. This enables it to demonstrate some behavior or property of the original object without examining the original object itself. The most familiar scale models represent the physical appearance of an object in miniature, but there are many other kinds.
Scale models are used in many fields including engineering, architecture, film making, military command, salesmanship, and hobby model building. While each field may use a scale model for a different purpose, all scale models are based on the same principles and must meet the same general requirements to be functional. The detail requirements vary depending on the needs of the modeler.
To be a true scale model, all relevant aspects must be accurately modeled, such as material properties, so the model's interaction with the outside world is reliably related to the original object's interaction with the real world.
Revell is a manufacturer of plastic scale models. The original American Revell merged with Monogram. In 2007, American Revell was purchased by Hobbico while the European Revell Germany separated from the American company in 2006 until Hobbico purchased it as well - bringing the two back together again under the same company umbrella. In 2017, Quantum Capital Partners took over operations of Revell after Hobbico declared bankruptcy.
Aluminum Model Toys, commonly abbreviated as AMT, was a Troy, Michigan-based company that manufactured various pre-assembled plastic promotional models starting in 1948, when attorney West Gallogly, Sr. started it as a side business. Later, a variety of kits became very popular. Most of the company's vehicle products were American cars and trucks in 1:25 scale. In the 1970s, hot rods, customs, trucks and movie and TV vehicles were also produced.
Because Gallogly had solid connections with Ford Motor Company, he was able to place his first models exclusively in Ford dealerships, starting a long promotional relationship (Cawthon 2002). Gallogly's first model was a 1947-1948 Ford Fordor sedan made of cast aluminum and painted with official Ford paint (Cawthon 2002). After issuing successful Ford sedan models, the company set up shop on Eight Mile Road outside Detroit (Chrysler 2008).

I remember when the hobby seemed to be fading away and model car companies were hurting and I honestly believe that Round2 saved our hobby so THANK YOU to Round2 for what you have done for the hobby.
I’m so happy that Round 2 is rereleasing all those old kits!! I hear people complaining about flash and crap, but you gotta admit, that’s it’s so awesome to see them all again!

Those people are seriously cry babies, they aren't skilled model builders. It takes seconds to remove flash from a part.

thats why we have tools to cut out the flash, simple.i have never complained about flash, hey sometimes you get a kit with no flash and sometimes you do, alot of cry babies out there, suck it up and get out your tools.

All hail Cody and Hurtlocker. The mightiest and bestest model builders in the world. For they are right, and nobody is entitled to their own opinion or allowed to tell Round2 what they'd like to see improved upon or retooled. Speaking of tools, Cody and Hurtlocker dont need retooling because they are the epitome of being tools.

WOW! Chris, thank you so much for the tour of the company. Very interesting. Thank you to Round 2 for the awesome supply of models over the years. I have been building for over 60 years now and still have fun with it. Thanks again.....Tim👏👏👏👏
That archives room was off the hook, I could spend weeks in there! Thanks for showing us this outstanding factory and that cool Barris T buggy!
My dream job. I'd love being surrounded by kits all day

Yes, THANK YOU round 2! Just keep on "pouring" out MORE and MORE new models for all of us fans and keep the hobby alive!
My very first car kit I built (or tried to build) was the AMT 1961 Plymouth Valiant. I am 72 years old. Bring it back and make an old man happy! Great vid Chris as always. Keep up the good work.
Chris,Thanks for this very informative video! I'm sure I'm not the only guy asking for reissues of the MPC 1968, 69, 71 and 72 Chevrolet Impalas! Thanks for listening!
I didn't see this in the video, but the one kit more than any other I'd love to see reissued is the 1966 Imperial kit. My father and I have been rebuilding our "full scale" 66 Imperial which was handed down from his father, and I've been looking to purchase a kit of one. Unfortunately they are incredibly rare, but I think it would be incredible to be able to have a model kit to show with the real life car. That being said, incredible video, thank you for the opportunity to ride along with you for the tour. That's an amazing facility.
We could also use a reissue of the Pontiac Venturas. Only slight modification could offer the NEVER offered 1974 Pontiac GTO!
Here's an idea to start working on - 2027 is the 50th anniversary of Smokey and the Bandit. How about repopping/updating the Trans Ams and Trucks/Trailers from those films?

Sometimes when there was a model attached to a move or TV show they are hard to get re-released because of rights issues with said movie or TV show especially if a studio or company was sold or lapsed.

Thank you Round 2 people for allowing me to purchase many kits I had or wanted to have as a child. Brings a smile to my 54 year old face.
I really enjoyed this video. I'd love to see re-issue of the 1972, 1973, and 1974 Dodge Charger. Add the Rallye package option as a 2 in 1 kit. The originals are hard to come by!
Great visit to Round 2. Thanks. Really like your kit unveilings and builds. Also your realistic view of modelling - build and enjoy.

Very nice look at Round 2. There are continuing to pump out new of old kits. We are so lucky to have them because they listen to US. This must have been an incredible opportunity for you. Thanks for sharing.
Please round 2!!! Kitt and the A team van😊😊😊!! Great job on the video brother Chris!
Hello, thank you for featuring some of my artwork on your channel! The illustrations you showed are acrylic paints. Both standard brush and airbrush. (My magazine work for Scale Auto and Model Cars utilized marker and colored pencil.) That Charger was a fun box to do because I'm a MoPar guy and that was a particularly good subject. Sometimes I provide digital artwork for Round 2 as well. Depends on the project. Thanks again for showing the actual artwork. Most people don't get a chance to see the originals! -Brad

In the early '90's we thought the model car hobby was dying. Then came the awesome Lindberg 61 Chevy and the AMT 60 Starliner. I knew there was hope for us diehard model builders. Round 2 is awesome. My only problem is, I may have to start mowing lawns again like back in the '60's in order to buy everything! Thanks for a great video!
Thanks Chris & Chad For The Tour of Round2 and To Round2 For "FINALLY" ANSWERING MY " PERSONAL" For The " 64 " Chevelle Malibu SS 2dr Ht. GBA 🙏🤗 Gary.

The best model kit ever made was the DM 800 tractor. Fortunately I joined the Navy Seabees 78-83 heavy equipment operator and worked in transportation and got to operate 2 different heavy hauling DM 800s in Gulfport Mississippi. Great. There is a kit I would like to see come back in 1/25th scale. That is the International 4070 B. Transtar. Thanks for all the great Heavy truck, Trailer, and tractor kits you have produced over the years. Want to bring out a new truck kit. Maybe the international 4670 cabover. I have over one hundred kits built.
Thanks Chris for the excellent video and tour of the Round2 facility
Seeing all of them molds reminds me when I worked at a Injection molding plant ( for 39.5 yrs ). We had 32 machines, some times my boss will tell me to put a big mold In a small press that should have gone in a big press. Well I don't have to tell you parts would flash, because there was not a lot of Tonage. I tryed to tell him but he would not care. Tools that should have been fixed because of bad venting would cause burn marks on parts. So to stop the burning I would put a couple of pcs of scotch tape on the sides of the vents to stop it from burning; well , I'LL stop for now! Just wanted to let you know What I had to do. Joe B.
I would love to see the " A - Team " van, the " Cooter " tow truck, the John Force Castrol GTX Olds funny car, and the Canepa Kenworth T600A semi as reissues!
Very well done Chris and staff at Round2! If archive item B2-23 '91 Z/28 or the 25th Anniv. Z/28 ever make re-release, PLEASE retool or CORRECT the instument panel. All have the earlier IROC panel, completely different.

The kits I'd like to see re released is the REVEEL 77 GMC Wrecker Tow Truck, the MPC The Fall Guy Truck, and The AMT John Deere 319 Backhoe.
Cool video. Nice to see where our stuff comes from. Wish list: Cooters tow truck, A-team van, 69 Pontiac Grand Prix, snowman's semi from smokey and the bandit. And the list goes on.😁👍
Great video. I wish they would come out with a 1/25th scale 80s or 90s GMC school bus.
A tow truck rerelease would be nice, feels like it’s been a long time without a release
You guys at Round 2 do such a great job with the re-releases I really wish you guys would consider re-releasing the 59 and 60 Impala model kits in 125th scale as well as the 57 and 56 Chevy Nomad 125th scale model kits please and thank you

Awesome! Good work you people and thank you Chris👍🏻😎. If there was one kit out of all those amt has made, it would be 1965 plymouth barracuda. I had my very first ride to this world in a 65' barracuda V8 four speed, well packed under the huge rear window. It was metallic blue and awesome
Great work guys! I always hope for the re-release of Jim Dunn's Dunn & Reath Cuda funny Car - I think it was an old MPC kit (not the rear engine funny car)🤙
the A-Team Chevy van is one of the few childhood kits I have not been able to get a copy of. I would LOVE to see that kit on the shelves again.
I’d love to see Round2 release some of the old AMC kits. The Matador, Gremlin, Javelin and Hornet. It would also be great if they could make new tooling kits for the AMC Hurst SC Rambler and Rebel The Machine.
the 1972 ford maverik mustang and pinto sprint would be great
Thank you Chris for the tour and memories, It was a real eye opener to see what goes into thought process and production of these models for us modelers and what I built over the years..

Very interesting video, I always wondered about this company and the way they work. It'd even be greater to have them show the actual fabrication process, as how these molds are actually made and then used for the plastic molding and injection, the chroming method too... Some of it is now done back in the USA I think. They probably made it better compared to back then when AMT/MPC & others were in business decades ago.
