More rigid doesnt mean more durable. HPI would flex more, and would not snap as easy as the more "beafy" plastic on the Rovan. Plus the quality of the parts on the HPI is a lot higher then the Rovan. I would still buy an HPI then a knock off, but that's just me..

Great comparison! I rather have more flex in the plastic like the hpi the the rovan cause if it takes a hard it it can give a little of it is stuff like rovan it will flex then snap. I have a built hpi Baja 5b

Keep up on the Baja vids not many good ones out there you put out good detailed ones!

My 5b is so hard to launch, I have on road race tires and it still gets super squirmy at or right after launch when the clutch is engaging. I have a higher end gearing than stock (55 19) and it is still super hard to control at launch when just trying to go as fast as possible. I’m learning tho

Great vid but i notice about the rovan they always have there tolerances off if u put a rovan parts on a hpi they dont exactly fit . To be fair u have to compare to a hpi baja 5b ss kit the one u have is like the first baja made. But for the price u cant beat rovan. i still like the hpi better just because my buddy has a rovan and had alot of probs lots of rubbing and stiff. But great vid! If you want to get into 5th scale for the price its rovan.

I believe you can.. All of the parts are a match from my experience with HPI and Rovan 5b.

Rovan all day .their latest stuff is even better

If you buy any Rovan Sportier version they will add extra stuff like filters, oils etc.

So the Rovan wheels actually have better reinforcement, that have a metal insert imbedded in plastic instead of just a ring

Hey man.. nice video... those are not wheels shims.. those are spacers for toe in and toe out for the rear tires...stock to an adds a little toe in for offroad.. you can take those out or put more in..also the rovan does have the metal insert in the wheel its just black.... you can take a magnets to double check

just because the plastick is thicker/ more rigid does not always mean better. if its too rigid it will snap where a softer just bends. then there is differnces in plastic quality. more support and ridges in an A-arm with bad plastics woud break before an A-arm with less support and good plastics.

Weird... do you actually own, run and bash a rovan to test out your thinking or are you basing this on thin air hypothesis? You sound so certain that this rovan thicker plastic isn't up to scratch. Better to have proof before you write otherwise it's just hot air.

The HPI has better plastics and it’s way stronger than it looks

Maybe.. but the Rovan is pretty tough as well. We love them both and we aren't "brand specific" as long as we are having a blast..

don't think 2.4g was out when the OG 5B came out. lets be honest the HPI will allways be better then the rovan are clones . I have had 3 HPI 2 5b 1 5t built like tanks . I just got a rovan 5T they have come a long way but I know stuff is gonna have to be upgraded. but as far as tires and shit I just buy the clone stuff . works just as good

@@BMPowered its pretty sad thou the 5th scale market used to be booming but now it just seems to be less popular. The clones helped people get in the hobby with out going bankrupt. I think rovan and Kingmotors (same company lol) have really stepped up there game from when they first come out. Just look on ebay hardly any hpi stuff but shit tons of clone stuff. Thank God for DDM lol. I really don't know what happened to hpi but they should of did something different with the baja platform instead of just rehashing the same shit over and over.

@@BMPowered to be honest I had the most fun with my baja 5bs with a big ole motor and sand paddles at the beach . but if I had to do it again I would get a losi 5T that thing was a such a please to bash and for its size it could take one hell of a beating . I think rovan makes a clone of it with a 45cc motor been hearing a lot of great things about the rovan 45cc .

Ever since I first saw the Kraken cage on it in the rcsparks video years ago I've wanted one and just recently have the time and money to get into the RC hobby and now they're hard to get😂

the hpi is an old car rovan has just copied the design, rovan is a great value rc but the plastics are cheap and will not last as long as the hpi, however if i was to buy another 5th scale id get the rovan and put the extra money saved into better parts

Rovan won 2 of 3 while the hpi always had a headstart..so the cc difference does count..

Literally comparing old tech to newer tech. Rovan/king motor are cheap rip offs
