    only because i actually watched the video and it answered my questions...and people still seem confused 1.1 single hp tuner module can do multiple vehicles but you use credits to unlock them 2.once unlocked WITH THE SAME MODULE is used you can retune and access tunes and files anytime and anywhere on any computer/laptop 3.if someone has already tuned with hp tuners, unless you have their module you will have to buy a module/credits to unlock the vehicle to your module or someone elses module if it is getting retuned, which is why people just purchase the module because they will be able to make modifications as well as anyone else with the software

    ok, so I get that once you buy credits to license the vehicle, you can tune that same vehicle an unlimited amount of times for free after licensing it one time, but Ive also heard about needing to license the file that you flash onto the ECU, so like after you buy the credits to license the vehicle do you have to buy more credits to license the file that gets flashed onto the ECU?

    One of the best scams there is. I just wish I'd thought of it lol. It's like in app purchases on a phone. The tuner itself isn't cheap. Then require the owner that bought said tuner to have to pay to use their own device that they just bought. Then depending on which car you've chosen, you can easily spend the same amount on credits that you've spent on the tuner.

    I mean it's kind of universal for tools like that, matter of fact it's better... It's not just a simple tuner, you can do A LOT of shit with the MVPI 2 and vcm suite, Very useful for a shop and most useful shop tools actually require monthly or yearly subscriptions in the hundreds to thousands of dollars range, some even costing as much as 100 dollars for 3 days, and that's just what i've heard of, i'm sure it gets worse... So for most standard vehicles costing only 2-4 credits it's very good in comparison, My l5p cost a lot more credits but most don't cost that much.

  • @TheTuningSchool

    @TheTuningSchool

    Vehicle licensing is a one time deal per MPVI or MPVI2. If you tune one vehicle with your device and decide to later add on parts or change the tune for that vehicle, you can change it as many times as needed with the same device. The only time more credits are required for a licensed vehicle is if the ECM has been exchanged, OS changes, or you use a different HP Tuners device.

    If you are purchasing your own MPVI2 to do the work you will need to purchase the credits to license your vehicle. The license is a one time deal per MPVI or MPVI2. Once you have licensed you vehicle with your own device you can modify the tune as many times as you want.

    No…you simply open your old licensed file that you used to write to the ECM during your first tune. Make sure you save the file and keep it safe (don’t lose or delete it.) It has the license encoded within it. You simply open it up again, make the updates to it, and then perform another “write” to the ECM. If you try to use a different tune file other than your original one, it’ll ask you to purchase credits again.

    Once you buy the dongle and buy the credits. Why not charge you another credit for only one car. Makes sense. I guess you have to pay to play. But this doesn't get gas into the tank. Its a toll booth. I really hope this is worth the money when I start using mine. I am feeling a little like a fool for spending so much money and not having anything to show for it yet. Maybe I will update this after I try out the MPVI3 I just got.

    TheTuningSchool I did this for my camaro , unlocking was 4 credits , then after that I sent the base tune to my tuner, did I mess up Doing that ? Should of I sent the base tune first then waited for my tuner to send it back then use the 4 credits ? Or does it not Matter In which order I do it in ?

    If you are speaking of entire makes/models unlimited, it doesn't exist. If you are speaking of Gen III GM trucks unlimited it is 30 credits. You will see the option when you go to license the vehicle.

    No. You can scan, download, edit, even change gear ratio/tire size. And the software is a free download on their website. When you upload you will need to license each vehicle. It's a one time license for that vehicle.

    @@TheTuningSchool Uploading is part of using. I was not looking for something that would require paying for every vehicle program modification. The initial cost of the unit and requirement to purchase a licence for each vehicle makes this something for professional mechanics that charge customers, not someone that's just curious to know what their car could do if the speed limiter was disabled. Sure the company will make small amounts of money back from the software but far less people will be willing to buy the units if they know how it works in advance.

    What's the time stamp for the part you're talking about? Different vehicles cost different credit amounts. Then you can purchase just one license specific to your Vin or you can purchase an unlimited license. Unless you're a tuning shop you won't need to buy the more expensive licenses.

    I like the product and its capabilities BUT I wouldn't buy it solely because of the "credit system". If I'm spending hundreds of dollars on a product, it should do as it says without forking over more money. That's like buying a fishing rod and having to pay the manufacturer a fee every time you want to switch lures. Nope.

  • @dobermanracing

    @dobermanracing

    A better analogy would be you pay for your fishing rod and then have to pay for fishing line but once you buy the line you have unlimited fishing line for that pole. If you want to put your fishing line on another pole you would need to pay for another unlimited fishing line spool for the new line.
