HP ENVY x360 13-ay0008na 2020 SSD Upgrade and Battery Replacement Guide

Ойындар

Guide to upgrading the SSD in the HP Envy x360 13-ay0008na 2020 and other models using the 13-ay0000 chassis.
This system takes an M.2 2280 SSD of the PCIe NVMe type as standard
For this system I would upgrade to an M.2 2280 NVMe drive, such as the WD Blue SN550: amzn.to/3fFjGW9
Tools used for this repair:
Screwdriver Set: amzn.to/2zxS1pv
Pry Tool: amzn.to/3btOw0t

@@Cecil4029 Yes, as the drive that is installed is bandwidth limited, aka restricted. You will see this when you remove old drive, as it has pins missing from the interface ;), so any drive that is not restricted is going to be better, so most normal NVme types :)

Things that I did with that laptop right away: - Update the bios (fans was kicking way too often before) - Replace the realtek wifi card by a Wifi 6 Intel - Repaste the cpu, the thermal paste they used is garbage sadly. The heatsink is very tiny, so a very good contact is essential! 20°C cooler, stable and very fast wifi.

Is ever thus! When I disconnect the battery I get comments telling me there is no need to disconnect the battery. When I don't I get comments telling me I should. Typically I do, just got the sequencing backwards when filming this one. If you have shutdown the system properly (not put it to sleep) then it SHOULD be safe to do the SSD install with the battery connected, but it is good practice to disconnect it if possible.
