I remember supporting these for years back at my old job. I actually have a 9480M I keep around as an expendable little laptop for experiments.

it's 9 years already yet the laptops still works great. it's built like a tank. easy to upgrade. very useful dedicated mute offline button, very user friendly. best investment I've ever done. great job HP.

4 months ago I dropped it on the floor by mistake, I thought its time has come to say farewell to me. I rushed into my room and plugged it in and surprisingly it worked as nothing happened, also I checked every single component if it was damaged, but everything was normal. That's why I liked the term "built like a tank" which is accurate 😅

From experience I can tell you that the MacBook Pro stands up to abuse extremely well. I had a 10ft piece of plaster coving fall from the ceiling and land straight on the top of my MacBook Pro. It bounced off the display of the MacBook and hit me straight on the head, leaving me with with a massive lump on my head but not a scratch to the MacBook. There was a huge mark on it but after wiping it with a damp cloth it was completely gone. Also, magnesium is softer and more flexible than aluminum.

FYI: when you double tap the top left corner of the touchpad, it will turn on/off, as with all modern EliteBooks. Too bad it's just a 1366X768 display though, would have liked to see at least 1600X900, like on my 8560w

I first saw this video while using a MacBook Pro and the shape of the keys, the shape and indentation of the area around the keyboard, the colour, and font used all look exactly the same. I thought it was a comparison between some HP laptop and the MacBook Pro or something, as this laptop looks so much like it.

Yeah Palm OS was the first to really do any of this stuff, even the screens supported multitouch, its just there was no drivers written for it

gorgeous laptop. Kinda looks like mbp but in positive way

finger print scanners aren't new, my laptop has one and i only spent £490 on it. I can use it to unlock my laptop and launch websites (I can customize it to choose what websites that open and what fingers I need to use to do it).

I would prefer you to buy 9470m. I have also used 8470 and now I'm using 9470m. It's awesome. Lightweight, Better graphics card than 8470. And many more than 8470.

This is an old comment but I've owned both, and both of mine had Intel HD 4400 which is not great, however for basically anything non intensive they're both great. My 8470p had more ram and was easier to work on/fix but the 9470m is much lighter, thinner, has a better trackpad, and has a backlit keyboard. Performance was identical and both machines had an SSD in my experience

Ive used HP Elite Book before and they are really good... they are TOUGH.. nothing gonna happen even if you drop it from your hand!! so sad I have a shitty Acer now :( already its started to look old!!

is the screen TN or IPS? Everywhere i look it says TN but i dont think Linus would make a mistake like that, especially when he can tell the difference between 120 annd 60hz. Any thoughts? Is it TN or IPS?

My guess is that the screen is LED (standard display type on most Elitebooks). Definitely not TN otherwise the colours would look washed out at extreme angles.

Got a refurb on ebay with ssd and 16gb ram as well as i5 for $182.99

GPU isn't only for gaming. Apple actually used to use Quadro and Fire type of GPU's in the past in their systems. They were meant for editing purposes. Since there nowadays is an overlap between the two (professional cards and gaming cards) they went for the more casual and cheaper solution.
