When you put the bottom cover back on, how do you move it back into the "locked" position? Doesn't lock as easily as it unlocked.

Here in 2024 and I must say it is a good PC.

My elitebook g2 840 keeps going into random bsod even after reinstalling news windows ? Im frustrated all the hardware tests came out ok

That easily removable bottom cover is not plastic but metal. I've been enjoying one of these laptops for some years now. Hope it will last me many more. I don't keep the battery in it, and keep it charged at 40% when not in use, only sticking it in there sporadically, by default running the system on AC. Keeping ion-lithium batteries charged at 40% gives them the longest life cycle according to Battery University. (Name of Website battery maker.) Have SSD. Fast reboot.

How do i know that the cpu fan is working or not and the keyboard backlight too

Remove the bottom cover, power on the laptop and see if the cpu fan is spinning. If you press the keyboard backlight keys and nothing happens then you probably have a bad backlight.

Oh I see you are referring to the external battery accessory that plugs into the bottom. Unfortunately I don't have too much experience with using one, but the one you linked looks like it would do the job.

Hi I am thinking about buying a used 840 g2 core i7. I'm an English teacher in Peru, so it's not easy finding deals on quality notebooks, but I'm wondering if one that I saw online is a good deal. Its specs include 4600 U 2.7 ghz ✔ HD SATA 500 Gb 7200 rpm ✔ Memory RAM 8 gigs DDR3L ✔ AMD 8750 M graphics 1 gb DDR5 There is no touch screen on this one. The owner put in a "new" battery, all for 360.00 Is this a great deal or is it overpriced in 2021. p.s. the owner also has a G3 core i5 with an 256SSD for sale for 325. Is that a better deal?

You have to buy an new motherboard with cpu and gpu soldered. I do in my 745g2 and convert it into 840 g2 with motherboard change and touch pad board.

Sure, you can only use the smaller m.2 SSD drives on this because the bigger ones don't fit. I know that this m.2 ssd drive will work for sure: amzn.to/2MCm5D2

GPU is integrated Intel HD 5500. Not good for playing steam games unless they're really old. There's a version of this laptop with a Radeon M260X discrete GPU with 1GB GDDR5, but it is more rare.

Is any simcard slot available ?

I think the body will be the same, it might have an upgraded heatsink and cpu fan for better cooling to keep the i7 cool.
