Well its keyboard is actually better than the bigger variants like pavilion dv6000 and Compaq V6000. It's the same exact keyboard but V3000 has less keyboard deck flex thanks to it being smaller and less bendable.

Compaq v3000 is best on Windows XP Home or Windows 7 Home Premium ? Windows 10 LTSB 2016 is installed, is it good ? Thank you

I have the same model, the problem I have with it is that sometimes it turns on and sometimes it doesn't, it's only when I clean the ram memory entries and the hard drive works that it sometimes turns on. Could you guide me on how to solve the problem?

Assuming yours is the same V3000 Intel version with a GMA 950 graphics? i guess if you also have problem with sometimes hard drive/optical drive not being detected despite them being known perfectly good, then you may be looking at replacing a few capacitors on the 5V power rail and on the 1.8V RAM power rail

Which specific model do you have? Earlier V3000's use conexant audio, later ones use realtek hd, totally different drivers

Best cpu is T7600 (avoid, crazy expensive). Best recommended is T7200, like the one I've used. You MUST upgrade the bios first

Also, the T2410 does not exist. It's either a core 2 duo T2400, T2450 or Pentium T2060, T2080. Make sure you have the V3000, NOT the V3500. Putting a T7200 inside the V3500 kills the laptop, as it's the newer Socket P!

@@_.NERD._. Then you can use far better processors than a T5800. For Merom you can go up to T7800, and if the BIOS update allows, you can upgrade all the way to T9300, T9500! In that case I recommend the T8300, T9300, either of which easily runs circles around a T7600!

hi, i have v3000. cleaned the fan & replaced the thermal paste but the laptop will shut down after 1hour++. is it because of overheating? what should I do?

Assuming you got the basics right, such as using a reputable branded thermal paste, then you need to invstigate what is the cause of your shut down. Assuming you have an Intel based one like mine, hwmonitor will tell you the CPU thermals. If they look good and it still shuts down when the temps are well below 80C, and that your battery is dead, then you might need to investigate on your charger. HP's small yellow plug chargers are never all that durable, and on the higher end dv6000 series the chargers are also vastly underpowered. If you have any doubts about the charger, just get a 90W charger that shipped with the dv9000 and save yourself any future troubles.

I have a same Laptop v3000 when I charged it the charging light appears but when I go to press power button nothing happens I tried to do press power button for 1 min thing but still not happening please help meee

power button led doesn't even come on? Chances are your power button has oxidated. Try turning it on by pressing the HP quickplay touch button?

Hi, please determine where your hinge is broken at. I imagine it's unlikely for the hinge to break at the bottom casing, as that's screwed into Magnesium chassis. But the lid I imagine it's totally possible to break at. Follow the video, remove the display assembly, then tear the display assembly apart (no need to remove palmrest or proceed further). Should you really want to attempt things like broken screw threads, you can consider trying hot glue, but there are tricks to doing that, or else the bond will be weak

I'm currently in progress of restoring my Compaq V3000 laptop too. My checklist are upgrading the RAM, swap from HDD to SSD and upgrade the Pentium T2080 processor. I've already done the first two list so now all i need to do now is to upgrade my CPU to the Core2 Duo T7400. Is this the perfect upgrade for my old CPU? If it is, where should I get the BIOS driver update for my laptop?

Assuming you know for sure it was a T2080 CPU, which is a Yonah Core duo generation Pentium, you will need a BIOS update first as mentioned and then yeah T7400 will work fine, but be warned T7400 will run quite hot and expect decreased battery life if you use battery. For drivers and BIOS updates on these old HP's, HP didn't actually delete the files on their FTP servers, they only deleted the driver support pages. So you can use hpnotebookdrivers dot com which is essentially an organiser that organises the drivers for you, downloads are all still HP's FTP servers

3GB at 667mhz. if you put 4gb inside anyway bios will only use 3gb (even though chipset can technically do 3.3GB like on Compaq nc series business lineup)

what RAM did you install (DDR1,DDR2,ETC) and how did you change it from 32-bit yo 64-bit in bios? Please respond as I also have to do this for my Laptop which is same as yours.

Maximum supported is 3GB (1+2GB) DDR2 laptop RAM. 667 and 800mhz sticks are fine. For 32bit vs 64bit you dont change it in the bios. you upgrade the cpu to core 2 duo if only core duo, and reinstall the operating system

Assuming you have Intel variant of V3000 (not V3700 or something), look for first a BIOS update and then a Core 2 duo T7200 CPU. T7200 is still a bit too weak for Windows 10 and 11 but better than nothing!

Go to hpnotebookdrivers dot com, download there. It might sound sketchy but the download links are all still directly from HP ftp servers, so its all original files (hp merely removed the driver lists for these machines, not the files themselves) You MUST match Intel version with Intel version BIOS and AMD version with AMD BIOS!

There's an archive website called hpnotebookdrivers dot com that hosts links to HP FTP servers to download drivers. Website does sound shady but all the links are HP links so your downloads are safe

@@aldicnajajajxnx3219 Assuming you have A Core 2 duo T5550 or something, do bios upgrade first and then you can install Core 2 duo T8300, T9300, T9500 and 8GB of DDR2 RAM. Those are the 3 most powerful supported cpus, NOTHING else better will work without my so called 1066Mhz FSB modding. Such mods require extreme skills and ONLY doable after thorough knowledge of the Core 2 duo platform

Hi, new suscriber and like I have the same presario V 3000 and, actually it supports 4GB (2x2Gb) DDR2 ram (400MHz X2) in dual channel (i have the nVidia Geforce 6150 ver) Win 8.1 is better choice and even win 10 runs like a xharm.... win 11 runs acceptable but it suffers with YT even changing vp9 for h264 Im a Windows modder ; hope u try my stuff 🙂🙂😉😉 greetings from México

Well it seems like you have the AMD variant which comes with the integrated Geforce graphics. Due to resource allocation issues with the BIOS in the Intel variant, you are limited to 3GB of RAM despite the chipset supporting up to like ~4GB max. You might even get 6 or 8GB of RAM working on that thing as it did on my dv6000z, while that is simply not possible on the Intel variant You wanna replace the thermal pad on the chipset with a copper shim and thermal paste, as my dv6000z's did overheat and fry and I had to bake it

Also which AMD CPU do you have? It seems like you might've gotten lucky as the RAM controller is within the CPU for Turion 64 X2 and not all chips support 800Mhz or more than 3GB! I currently have a Turion X2 TL-50 in one of my other machines and it tops out at 667Mhz and 2.9GB of RAM! I am currently investigating whether it's because that has the old F2 stepping while my new upgrade TL-60 would come with G2 stepping.

@@alescitocp3802 The Sempron versions come with nforce 6150 chipset, which if you dont fix hp's stupid cooling solution it will fail. Not to mention Semprons are just pieces of turd to begin with. A Turion 64 X2 upgrade would be much needed
