His mannerisms and demeanor seem so withdrawn and unsure, while his thoughtfulness is so precious, and fascinating.

i agree ,when he says i needed time alone to write and surely perfect how each song ,in other interviews it was 3 years! as a very sensitive person myself ,i struggle to get the depth of my thoughts out. his awardness is apealing because ,hes real +frightened ,but he does it any way.

nailed it, lily! i have started to love people who are messy thinkers and have fluid personalities, who dont really know who they are, an air of unsure-ity around them always. perhaps they are unsure because they never settle for an answer and keep seeking the truth, keep going beyond, never let themselves get comfortable where they are. my friend once said, "i hate people who put labels on themselves. if you know who you are (which you probably dont), im not interested".
“I’ve always been a fan of writing the music you wish people wrote.” “Solidarity costs nothing.” "Music is political no matter what." This man is just dropping wisdom left, right, and centre

I don't think music is political, I think it can be shared and enjoyed by everyone.

Shannon M I actually don’t think it’s intentional. A lot of people just have very limited vocabularies and literally don’t know the definitions of words. 😐
Thank you so much for allowing this kind, compassionate, wonderful man to just speak, at length, about what's in his heart and mind. He's so genuine, and so compelling to listen to.

Hozier is intelligent, articulate, insanely talented. I'm so blessed to be able to witness his amazing work.
His music isn't like most in the fact that he touches a cord that connects all people. He doesn't come off as pretentious and grand. He is simply expressing his thoughts and feelings. There are musicians and then there are artist. Musicians entertain through song where as artists tell a story and connects through song. He is an artist.
how can he be so hot and charming at the same time?

Hozier is such an intelligent, well aware artist. his lyrics give me chills
"i was reluctant to talk all too much about it because there's nothing really that i can offer other than solidarity." this man gets it. if you're trying to be an ally, don't speak over the voices of those that are suffering. elevate them.
That was a lovely interview, nice natural and intelligently approached. Refreshing break from the over the top American interview style.
When he says 'ehm' instead of 'uhm' aahh music in my ears ❤
"This song about church...and this elaborate metaphor for lovemaking...I didn't think it would kick off" Nonsense, you just totally nailed my fetish
I'm a poet myself and have written many poetry in the past but when I listened to his song, my writing became different. I've become more of a story telling and tackled more of the wounds that I have within me. In a way, it helped me heal

He has such a beautiful spirit, it's unbelievable. Thank goodness he's out here doing what he's doing.
I just love him. He’s a kindred soul and I see a lot of myself in him. A true humble artist who doesn’t make music for fame, but because it’s genuinely his passion.
So refreshing to listen to someone with intelligent thoughts on world issues and affairs of the heart. So charming, so honest, so remarkable and unforgettable.
I'm shocked that nobody has noted his stutter. It's rather interesting to see these wonderful people have slight imperfections, and to be so comfortable with themselves. It makes me smile, he does so well articulating his ideas despite the repetition of so many syllables. I could listen to his ideas for hours.

I love our wholesome sweet boy! He was given a perfect opportunity to dunk on contemporary artists, and he was just like, "Nah, what's just not what the song is about. It's a tribute to the oldies, to what I was raised on." THAT'S MY BOOOOY!
just saw him in concert tonight....sooooooo incredibly talented and kind!! you deserve all the success and more!
"Solidarity costs nothing" yes Hozier is the guy we all should stan. Dude's a legend, I love how well informed he is about certain things which effect us humans and humanity in general on a daily basis.

He stutters so much at the beginning but then he gets comfortable :)
Beautiful interview. And what a humble, considerate und bright man Hozier is!
Really compelling, honest, thought-provoking interview. Thank you both! 💜
Sometimes I just listen to interviews and keep analysing the body language and the way people talk. It seems like he is always thinking before he says something, just to be as much humble as possible. I mean, people always ask about the success or whats like being a success and I think he just wants to talk about the problems of the world and at the same way being so humble to not say: "hello guys, i'm much more than take me to church." Finally I can say we're having the rare privillege to listen to a true genius of our time, this man could end a war just with a few minute chat with some general or sth. He's so peacful i could hear him for a whole day.
absolutely love hozier......beautiful person....all my hugs to him

I love how the irish say "um".
8:38 this was an amazing point, and one that needed to be stated. Its all too often that when a celebrity gets involved in a protest or organization of good cause that the subject changes to the celebrity, not what is most important; the reason we are organizing to speak out, protest, or stand in solidarity in the first place. Its a huge problem, and one that discredits the hard work of those that have truly put in work, effort, and energy to help end the issue in question.

Polunin make a video to TMTC independent of Hozier who already had an official video for that song. Hozier showed his appreciation by asking Polunin to be in the Movement video. This was before Polunin's apparent political opinions were known. It's doubtful that Hozier would work with him again if Polunin really does support Putin and Trump.
everyone calls him underrated, but honestly he's got just as much attention as a lot of the other musicians out there. he's not a musician for the sake of fame but for the sake of art.. he just doesn't shove it in your face
