I would love to see a movie about Hoyt. Larger than life character. He was an incredible story teller with his music. Grew up listening to him thanks to my Dad.

Cooler than the other side of the pillow! Won't need to sell him to us. I briefly talked to a son of his who was running a website about Hoyt. I hope you all get together for christmas or thanksgiving. If not, try to make it happen, life goes quick, and family even quicker.

I just learned about him watchiing The Midnight Special episodes here. Now I'm down the rabbit hole. His voice sounds like some of the records I'd hear parents play in my childhood. They don't make them like this talented man anymore.

There is not a more perfect example of how far down the slimy hole of “What in the hell has become of REAL MUSIC??!?!” Hoyt Axton was a gifted songwriter, penning amazing ballads of people who were really people, songs that made all who heard them laugh (or even just smile for those “reserved types.” He had a deep smooth-as-silk voice that went just a tad deeper when you thought he’d already found bottom and he was genuine. Like him or not, he wasn’t going to change to suit anyone.
