Introducing trainsets is the easy part. Even the current AC LHB coaches and WAP-5 Locos are rated to run at 200 km/h. The difficult part is upgrading the tracks to safely support such speeds.

@@nightowl1435 Nothing of that kind. Standard gauge has no technical superiority over broad gauge in supporting high speed trains. Most countries in Europe as well as China and Japan have been using standard gauge for their rail network even before they introduced high-speed trains. That's why they built their high-speed rail network in the same gauge. In Russia they use a different gauge called Russian gauge on which they run high-speed trains. The only reason India chose standard gauge for the Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train project is because they can purchase standard gauge high-speed trainsets off the shelf from Japan without having to design one specifically for our broad gauge. Besides, Vande Bharat is not a high-speed train (200+ kmph). Its only a semi-high speed (160-200 kmph). Railways already have a few small stretches of track where they have tested speeds of upto 200 kmph. If they upgrade the other tracks to the same standards and fence them, they can very well run trains with speeds of 160-180 kmph.

Bandel katwa line is much slower than bolpur rampurhat line. So a high speed train like Vande Bharat is decided to run via bolpur rampurhat instead of katwa-azimgunj

A dissenting voice. Vande Bharat express is capable for 180 kmph. But govt is running them in routes which donot support such high speeds. So besides looks of train and cabin, there is no improvement as such. So are we being made fools? Train is very good but even a Lamborghini cannot run properly on road filled with potholes and is no better. Even a LHB train can run at 130 kmph. Infact fastest train in india is a LHB at 160kmph. Vande Bharat is not even in top three fastest train in india
