There is an old Nordic tale my Great Grandma used to tell me when I was a child. She would always tell my that The Wind or the Howling Wind was the desperate cry for help from the Lost. Cursed to cry across the lands Howling in desperation for help. For they were so cold, so tired of the never ending cycle. For if they too, should suffer then you also will suffer the freezing winds for the rest of time. She would always finish the tale by saying the Goosebumps you get when you are in a windstorm was the presence of another.. She was a Scary old Woman, let me tell you.

oof i can tell. that must be really unnerving to think that the lost soul's haunt this after life and they know they'll never escape it because they knew what they did...what could they've done you ask? well...they caused sins that god couldn't bare to see...so becareful when you head out...cause you'll feel them on your shoulders and you will be haunted as well.

As a kid I used to be terrified of the cold howling wind sounds, we lived in an old wood and brick house ontop of a mountain and the wind would be tremendous up there. My room was in the northwest corner on the 3rd floor and would always catch the brute of the wind. Outside my window was 11 tall pines, roughly 70-110 feet in height and when that wind got to blowing it was something viscous, and since the wind blew right through the trees and onto my window it was very loud. I could never sleep as a kid because hearing that sound inside the total darkness of night would scare me senseless. I moved to Florida and now I miss it all entirely. I took it for granted and never truly appreciated the cold windy nights for what little they had to offer. Now I lay awake at night listening to these sounds to help me fall asleep, in hopes I'll be able to once again live back towards home and be able to really embrace all that I missed because of my childish fears. I find it ironic too that now for me to fall asleep, I find my self listening to the very thing that made me lose countless hours of sleep as a child.

My dad once told me when he used to work graveyard shift at night in Jerez, Zacatecas (Mexico) he used to travel through canyons during storms to get to work and he understood it was just the wind but he said there was something so ominous about the sound the wind made, he doesn’t believe in the undead but he said that some(thing) helps the wind make that noise. That scares me thinking about it

One of the guys tho say he was born at 1850 and they laugh at him they said:stop joking, and that guy says he's not joking he said that he live just over there, the other guys was confused since in the direction he pointed at is just graveyard. But because they are drunk, they passed out but they did get his name, tomorrow in the morning they were walking around that graveyard and found a grave with that person's name.they were shocked.

And I always wanted to know what is behind those mountains and the rain. When I became 18 years old I went to travel far from where I grew up. I'm 67 years old now and still traveling. The perfect soundtrack to read Reek/Theon's and Asha's in A Dance with Dragons. The tension and intrigue between the Bolton's, Frey's and the rest of the North as the dreaded winter comes to the North, and the grueling march of Stannis' men on Winterfell. And this storm is strongly implied to be the beginning of the Long Night.

I didn't realize that my new place wouldn't do that too and while I'm glad for better windows, I am even more glad that I found this to replace what I used to hear at night.

I love listening to the wind howl it's like the music and the voice of nature and the world it's almost haunting but it's also captivating and interesting, I like walking in the winds at night and watching the clouds blow past the moon and the light disappear and reaper from behind them and create shadows in the darkness, i like listening to the trees move almost like an orchestra that stretches for miles with a sound so massive but not loud that you can almost see how small you are in comparison, I also like the feeling of the cold night air which sinks into the landscape and holds everything dormant and asleep until the next light can awaken what was always there but hiding from what covered everything watching and hearing all the things which inhabit the darkness and the cold is also interesting seeing how they move and look around and observe everything there impressive and fascinating, the night as whole can make you feel very uneasy the way it strips you of sight and how it changes everything completely to what it is at day but once you see past that you are able to see a new side of the earth that is so different from the one we know it's beautiful and i love it

My memories with this kind of wind are lonely ones, it was my transition from being a kid to preteen. I was going around outside, looking for neighborhood kids to play with who are usually around, but not finding any. So just just walked to my school playground and sat in the slide for a while. Might have fallen asleep there, not sure, but this type of wind has always followed me in my dreams. Sometimes it turns into weird shapeless music, sometimes it just gets overwhelming (like when I have skyscraper nightmares, or dreams of getting swept away by the wind)

I lived in Haverfordwest Wales for a while, and at certain times of the year we got the strong Welsh Wind at night that was very similar to this. Deeper tones, for sure. And yes, it was scary for a time - and then you get used to it. And then you look forward to it. When you leave, you miss it. To me it always sounded like a chorus of lost and tormented souls. Very cool stuff.
