Howard Wolowitz and the Squeaky Floor Conundrum | THE BIG BANG THEORY

Комедия

Howard, Raj and Bernadette are trying to figure out what to do about the squeaky floorboards in Howard's old bedroom, which now belongs to his infant daughter, Halley. No solution proves exactly fruitful, but it's fun to watch, isn't it? Plus, we get to see Howard sing "If I Were a Rich Man" from the Broadway favorite "Fiddler on the Roof".
From "The Big Bang Theory" Season 10 Episode 13: "The Romance Recalibration"

The much more practical solution is to do nothing. If you always insist on complete and total silence when putting a baby to sleep, then they will only be able to sleep when it is completely silent. Much more helpful to the baby, and your sanity, if you let the baby learn how to sleep with noise. I'm not saying to bang pots and pans while the kid is being laid down, but you need to teach the kid stuff since they literally know nothing. Learning how to sleep in spite of innocuous noises is a good skill to have. Best for them to learn it as soon as possible because those kinds of tolerances get set early in life.

Adam Anderson his squares mapped out each different panel, the panels as a whole were squeaky so those squares are the minimum size they could be. Panels are squeaky due to lose and uneven fittings, therefor one particular spot in a panel will have the same effect as any other spot on that same panel, kind of like balancing a flat board on a nail, no matter where u push down it’s going to tilt in that direction, Ie. no matter where u stand it’s going to squeak.

Even if you went with their odd idea of "avoiding squeaky squares" i clearly see a path that involves NO jumping and stretching across the room, it only requires that they move the furniture around. Actually there may still NOT be a clean path but at least there's a higher chance of one if you use ALL the square instead of needlessly blocking out like 10 squares.

Nails will only make more squeaks over time. You have to find exactly, or close to which square nail (or just nail) is moving and screw the board down in that spot.

This is pretty good writing 😂 It actually reminds me a lot like stuff that Rob and Sally and Buddy would write on the Dick Van Dyke show for The Alan Brady show. I kinda wonder if that's where the writers got their inspiration from? Or the writers had a squeaky floor problem. 😄

None of them academics could figure out that the reason the floor was squeaking was because the floor was sagging? Simple fix: Just place a shim between the support beams and the floor, and the squeak goes away. It's a house they own, so they certainly can get access from the flooring to the beams to place the shims.
