Many students protested in 2014 when he was initially given the honorary degree. It was a big ordeal in the DMV. Howard should’ve never given him the degree to begin with. Many love to shout “HU” but that’s where it ends. HBCUs are extremely underfunded there’s no need to waste a graduation ceremony on people who are stingy.

I went to a college where a wealthy donor was caught writing hate mail to interracial couples. The donor was funding a new building to be named after him or something like that. Instead of returning the donation, the college redirected the funds and gave additional scholarships to their students of color. In fact my tuition was covered for one whole year. This is a different situation. I’m just sharing this story not about what I think Howard should or should not do.

You couldn't pay me to stay at the Intercontinental Hotel. Not after they accepted Diddy's money, instead of doing the right thing and reporting the abuse. I imagine that the hotel will keep it's current owners, change it's name and carry on as usual. I'm surprised that there aren't charges against the hotel.

His Hollywood star should also be removed. They also should find the woman who was a student @Howard who was beaten by him with a belt- publicly. There is a serious pattern with him and his and his violence and wickedness towards women. We know he’s not the only one but he must be held accountable. R. Kelly said during his interview with Gayle King that there are worse people than him in the industry. Sadly, that is a true statement. I would like to ask the bloggers- when Cassie’s lawsuit dropped- did anyone bother to follow up with the hotels she listed where many of the FO’s took place? There may be more footage out there.

This is why they say honorary degree is not a real degree because it can always be stripped away from you! However, if he would have earned a real doctorate degree that he actually went to school for and earned, then that degree would not have been stripped away from him.

I doubt it. Folks keep ignoring Diddy hasn’t been criminally convicted of any of the current charges . An institution old as Howard can’t just jump out taking back honorary degrees, and publicly disassociating from a public person. I’m sure their legal team advised after that video was released, and the accusations in Cassis civil suit match they could cut ties without fear of lawsuits of slandering his reputation. They had to wait for the legal team to advise. Most of Cosby’s honorary degree were taken back after his conviction.

Honorary degrees are the same as the participation awards they give to children for just SHOWING up to play a game! They mean nothing! But to the people who actually work their asses off to graduate only to be left in debt, giving an honorary degree to someone is like a slap in the face! If it's that simple then everyone should just use the tuition money to buy a damn degree! Stop giving them out! A degree is EARNED!!!

Yes Diddy settled the Cassie civil suit, and yes I believed her from jump, but Howard is an institution, and they have to be careful how & when they break ties , because Diddy hasn’t been criminally convicted of anything “yet”, I’m sure their legal team advised them after the video was released “now is a good time to do what they did breaking all ties..
