Creepy Shades Being older has nothing to do with becoming the very thing you hate. He hated and mocked these people for decades, made his name off it. Now he's become what he despised. That's called completely selling out and it's a personal failure. Ever listen to stern lately? It's unlistenable, absolutely horrible the past 5 years.

    3 жыл бұрын

Sadly, the 1988 Howard would likely think, "Oh my god! I finally got the respect from Hollywood I deserve and no longer have to cater to a loser audience!" Make no mistake, Howard always wanted to be a part of the in-crowd. He just didn't have the looks and such to do it that way, so he became a "shock jock" to get attention. Even then, if you really listen to what he said back in the day, it bothered him that mainstream entertainment media and people thought he was a vile creep. But he toughed it out long enough, and made such a big name for himself, that he actually began to get some respect. The start was getting on "America's Got Talent", which introduced him to a new audience and showed his detractors he had more to him than the sex and non-PC skits from his radio show. He also was around long enough that new, rising stars like Jimmy Kimmel, who grew up listening to his show, actually liked him and were in positions to help him get more mainstream recognition. Howard always was the guy he is revealed to be under the Marci Turk era. It's that older persona that was fake, in parts. The parts that were real is the insecure man who railed against the machine because he wanted to really be a part of it. And he used his audience from those years like he used his staff and the mentally deficient Wack Packers: As a means to an end to achieve his goal of getting famous, and eventually respected by the mainstream.

There was always a structure. It just sucks to see it because you loose the illusion of what the show used to be. I no longer listen because I’m not into the show structure anymore. Howard spent 35 years cultivating a persona and creating a cutting edge show. You can call it getting older, you can call it evolving. You can call it whatever the heck you want, just don’t expect your longtime fans to take this kind of change in the show direction lightly. People have become personally invested in the show so give them some slack that they don’t jump for joy and fully jump on board for the different changes.

This is the best and most clear explanation of how the Stern show changed. Because He decided to take the show in a new direction and focus on celebrities. Howard has always been about accumulating power. Personally I have no interest in celebrity interviews and will not watch them. I liked the old Stern show which focused on the weirdness of non famous people. But you have to give the guy credit. He got mega famous, mega credit with celebrities and if worth like 500 million. The show changed because he willed it to for better or worse.

I give Howard all the credit for achieving his goals earlier in his career.. working hard to get to the top. But it’s impossible to stay at the top. And this seminar is all about stubborn desire to be at the top while trying to convince an entire staff that he knows how to get them there based on his own thoughts... No one will question the guy who’s writing their paychecks.. and I’ve heard Howard berate Gary and belittle him by stating such things. I have to agree with missing the older version of Howard, raw and rock star.. now he’s so polished it’s borderline arrogant.

The sad part is he didn't need it. Actors take shit jobs in commercials and really bad movies at the start of their careers for publicity. Musicians play in front of 3 people at opn-mics just to be heard. But Howard did this at the end of his career. He already had his fame and fortune. But they got paid, got their moments of fame and honestly Howard doesn’t owe them anything. It’s actually the other way around. You just don’t see it that way because you don’t like the show anymore. Howard is an old man, that’s what many people overlook. He’s a grandpa, he doesn’t want to belittle street hookers younger than his daughters anymore and that upsets you. Those people should thank the earth they were able to be apart of the show. And the show still has a lot of listeners today. They know way more about keeping a radio show alive and relevant way more than you do trust me. It’s insane that Howard has even been able to keep it going this long.

@@tomfogarty9664 my point is that all the bitter and former Stern show staffers would run back if he asked. I am not defending the new howard, I think his show is a repeat of the same shit 3 days a week. even with that, they all would love the chance to be back on. artie, stuttering john, and most likely shuli in a few months

Have heard all the stories about how shitty he was to Scott Salem when his wife was dying/died, Tim Sabien when his parents were dying, how the whole Howard TV staff learned they no longer had jobs……..so much has been hidden by the alleged honest to a fault Howard. I felt the end was when he lost The Newlywed Game and brow beat the judges into accepting vinaigrette dressing as being oil and vinegar. He came unhinged that day over that and I lost respect for him even as I still listened until around 2010. Got a new car with Sirius in 2014 and listened for about 6 months before moving to Boomer and Carton. Stern should’ve ended it on top after the first Sirius contract ran out. Very sad, very rich, but this is just sad.

It's funny how there was a meeting to find out who leaked the video and they still don't know how it happened. I'm sure we'll find out after the show finally ends.
