Funny thing about Yogg was that with all the randomness, it was way to consistent. Or rather, people would play them at the moment the game was lost, in an attempt to bullshit their way out of the lose. After all, it doesn't matter if Yogg would toss three pyroblasts in your face, if your opponent would kill you on his next turn, would it?

I love how he never went for the combo this deck was trying to perform and just went balls to the wall for yog and value. This deck was a combo deck, with the lower cost damage spells, spell power, and discounts from the Emporer looking to do a HUGE burst of over 20 damage in a single turn to your opponent.

The tournament Rarrans is referring to was a dreamhack if I remember correctly. The pros were upset because Yogg made all the games a coin toss and it was reflected on the standings. A bunch of amateurs made it through and a bunch of well established pros didn't. I quit shortly after cause this was the days of Ben Brode and Yogg had been ruining ladder for a while at that point.

Yoga was the epitome of Hearthstone design in the sense that Hearthstone design is at its core is centered around heavy randomness and having huge variance between high and low rolls. It’s good for a casual game but let’s not pretend that it’s not detrimental to competitive play 😂. Just look at how many cards are justified balance-wise “by their randomness”

I don't understand why people are saying Yogg-Saron ruined a tournament. Do you remember any tournament where people won with retarded consistent odd-paladin swarms of dudes? Probably not... That was dull and boring. You probably do remember some epic spectacular Yogg-Saron comebacks though. Some of the most epic moments of Hearthstone history are from Yogg-Saron. Yogg-Saron is probably the best designed card in Hearthstone history. Randomness is fun. It keeps games interesting and different. Boring consistent odd-paladin decks is what ruined tournaments.

I remember that yogg decided games, but I don't really remember anything about what happened in the games to be honest. It happened so many times that every time Yogg won a game it was "well, I guess that happened again" rather than anything noteworthy. It's only exciting when it's unexpected, but when *everyone* runs it, there's nothing unexpected about it anymore - at that point games being won/lost by the whims of RNG is the norm rather than the exception, and there's nothing interesting about the normal thing happening.

I know this is a very unpopular opinion, but I think Yogg is dumb. It’s amusing, but RNG fiestas in CCGs doesn’t feel right to me and isn’t fun to play against. I’ll still take Yogg over Zephyrus, though. Zeph just needs to be deleted from the game.

"Ruined". No just what happens when you force a silly game to be an eSport, like blizz does with every game that it shouldn't. Only Starcraft was a real one, and that formed naturally. So no, all hearthstone tournaments are already jokes. At least this was the only entertaining one
