Protesters want their universities to cut ties with companies linked to Israel.
The crisis is becoming a political headache for President Joe Biden, who is seeking a second term in November.
Republicans are criticising his handling of the demonstrations even as he continues to support Israel's war on Gaza, which has killed close on 35,000 Palestinians.
Are the student protests taking a political turn?

When a government doesn't listen to the people who elected the politicians, when the press is fake and biased news, then this sort of protest arises. I fully support the students. The police are ordered to remove these by the university senate and its managers. The police shouldn't have taken any action. Where are the First Amendment rights of students.
I wish people would stop using the term "antisemitism". What is it? Is it, anti-Jewish, anti-israel, anti-Zionist? I think people who use that term should be made to explain what they mean.

It's only a mess because the cops came in and made it that way - y'all need to be clear about that. Protestors kept their encampment clean, were really good about leaving no trace, and the only reason it looks like this is because of the extreme violence brought on by the police and arresting peaceful protestors after doing NOTHING as *they* were attacked by agitators for nearly four hours. I'm sure the protestors would have cleaned up their encampment had they not been shot in the face by police with 'less lethal' munitions which are very much lethal at the range they were shooting. Iirc, someone in UCLA also lost a finger from this. The students still make sure everyone keeps their eyes on Gaza, though. Which is why this is far from over for them.
I voted for Biden, now the sight of him makes me turn away in revulsion and disgust.
The campus now looks like george square in central Glasgow after Rangers fans celebrated their title win in 2020
