Yeah this is Gene from Pennsylvania I have 30 gardens at memorial Park then I've been doing it for 18 years I ordered this year is 2022 the fall of it so I ordered 20 peonies and three tree tomato and arito and then some regular so I have a mixture of all three and I have been I still got five more to put in I've been putting them in so this is the beginning of October right now I've enjoyed it and I got some irises coming too so I don't know when they're supposed to be here take it forever okay talk to you later it's good talking to you

that's so great, they are definitely worth the wait. I'm about to start the Fall peony shuffle, it's been so hard to wait to move them to their new beds!

I am new to peonys and landscaping, but I am discovering that there is almost 2 classes of herbacous peonies: good in the landscape (stand and don't flop) or great for cut flowers (long stems flop). There are a number that work for both, but are newer. Also, nurseries seem convinced that peonies should be bought and planted in the spring so I only found left-over peonies at nurseries this fall. (That was surveying 8 different nurseries with knowledgeable people.) I haven't plugged into woody or tree yet, so I am eagerly listening.

I'm not surprised they don't have them in nurseries in Fall, they are much easier to sell as a higher priced plant when they are flowering. It seems to be ok to plant potted peony in Spring but if you're ordering roots from speciality growers-Fall is the best. I don't know that they have formal classifications for the floppy vs non floppy, many of the newer bred varieties have stronger stems but I don't mind supporting some of the old fashioned ones, if you use grow through support you can't even see it. I listed some sites/vendors to check out for winter ordering/Fall delivery. It can be a long wait but they are worth it!
