Accountants need to plan for each quarter Shipping companies need to ensure the order of goods coming in and out and where they’re going, usually plotted by week. I'm from Finland and my mom who is in her fifties also watches The Bold and the Beautiful, that's definitely one soap opera from the US that has huge international success (since Shayne was wondering about those). She also watches various other soaps from different countries, like she's super into Storm of Love (Sturm der Liebe) which is a German soap, and the British soap Emmerdale!

I agree with Spencer and Shayne about Amanda and FNAF, it's cool to see a fresh reaction/perspective to something that's a decade old as of this year.

legitimately, I would listen to Amanda read articles for people magazine all day! Her immediate “honey” after Shane didn’t realize Kevin Costner was divorced was incredible! Felt like it was me and my sister on the couch gabbing!

We didn't have vcrs so the day the soap aired was IT. People called out of work. Luke and Laura stuff was an EVENT. No one controls the public like soaps did back in the day. It was FUN.

It was BIG time controversial due to their past and the wedding had Liz Taylor there LOL INSANE back then. My sister & I used to watch General Hospital with my mom back in the early 2000's. We were incredibly invested! We even went to a few meet & greets with the actors. We'd often pick up a Soap Opera Digest. It was mainly filled with actor interviews, behind-the-scenes stuff, TV schedules, news & updates. Soaps are so long-running that the cast is constantly rotating, so it was mostly updates about which characters/actors are entering, exiting or returning, some confirmed by the network & call sheets, others speculated based on industry rumors & storylines. We ate it all up! I haven't kept up with any of it in years though

The structure of the show, the filming, and the specific situations they find themselves in mirror the classic soap opera formula for drama. They are just a little more modern and with a fun property behind them. Still, they are our modern soap operas! Also, Reddit stories are considered similar, too. We enjoy hearing them because they show us over-the-top events in people's lives and allow us to think about how we would handle it differently; same as soap operas. I learned a lot of this in my Communication courses at university.

I'm 30 years old and have been watching CBS soap operas (The Young and The Restless and The Bold and the Beautiful) since I was a literal child. Watching the soaps has been something that the women in my family have done for decades. If I'm not able to watch because of work, my mom recaps them for me nightly.

Been tirelessly writing a movie for the past god knows how many months now, nothing professional just a passion project. Tedious af, absolutely zero experience, but still trying. Not long after I started, smosh was bought back and this podcast was resurrected. Even when you guys aren’t talking about writing, this podcast is still a huge source of motivation and encouragement for me. Can’t put into words exactly why, but you guys’ chemistry with one another and the conversations you have never fails to lift spirits. Y’all are literally like atlas rn holding up my will to continue and see this through.
