How We Made It | Flying the Angel in Angels in America | National Theatre

Aerial Director Gwen Hales and Puppetry Director Finn Caldwell discuss their approach to flying actors and puppeteers in Angels in America, and we follow the human counterweights on the production.
Angels in America was performed on the Lyttelton Theatre at the National in 2017.

The first appearance of the angel at the end of Millennium Approaches was literally breathtaking. This was a brilliant production all round.

These videos continue to help me never stop my dream of becoming a professional at my craft. I have so many doubt constantly, but I see these gorgeous scenes and sets being created that I cannot ever give up until my name is on something as fantastic as this. Thank you.

They fail to mention that these angels are fallen angels, with the intention to deceive.

Lost and fallen are two different ideas. These are angels that God abandoned for humanity. They are lost without their leader, not evil or fallen.

Another nt production that has a good reaction… but it hasn’t graced its stage for 5 years. If it’s good and worth seeing, they should put it on again, but the nt has a habit of putting good shows on and then never put them on again after their run, and the website faqs don’t explain why.
