Planet of the apes released in 1968, it looked like shit all the way up into our era until we fixed it with proper cgi. Same goes for star wars. Transformers? Blade runner? Tron? These are just the some of the best examples of cgi intensive movies that require the cgi. Many movies use little bits of cgi u dont even realize that completely changed the vibe of the scene. It does "usually" help the movie immensely.

Honestly the best visual FX are the ones they did as normal concealers or touch ups. Its the stuff you didn’t notice like windows, objects or drop in composites. Sound is hard especially for airplanes because the volume of the planes is often as loud as the machine gun fire. And in the air it shouldn’t be so distinct. It should have more space and distance from the cameras position to that of the sound source especially when dealing with high rates of speed like planes. Its a small but crucial detail.

This Short Movie is Brilliant.... looks every bit High Budget and Big Movie Studio produced. I was amazed by how polished yet POV throughout film. It looks and feels like WWII somewhere safe from Nazi Aircraft. David is about to have the adventure of his lifetime. Casting David was pure magic. His acting is so IRL that it doesn't look like acting at all. Very natural and nothing distracts from the story line. I first saw this short on Omeleto. It is fun to have a back stage pass as you share your perspective. Obviously someone got a good foundation in film school. But that is just a starting point. You took that and added your own blood, sweat, and tears. Bravo... well done.

Some people just want to make whizz-bang big CGI effects movies, but with no real story. Have a great story like this one, and the effects don't need to be blockbuster, this has shown getting good results from different cheaper methods is still viable. Once again very well done

@@pizzamovies23It was possible for the Spitfires to attack the bombers mainly Henkel 111's. But Spitfires were a more natural fighter with great turning abilities, but hard to fly otherwise especially the Mk1's, also had bad energy retention hence higher altitudes were a risk for Mk1's, but they were more easy to bail out from with there bubble cockpits. Hurricanes has way better energy retention, and easier to maneuver and fly, hence why the RAF developed the tactic, Hurricanes for the heinkels, Spitfires for the Messerschmitts.

Rubbish. Spitfires would and did obviously attack bombers. The spitfire vs fighters and hurricane vs bombers doctrine was just that, a doctrine. It was not always possible due to numerous variables, i.e. the squadrons in the area etc. The main issues I have is that the Spitfires should have 4 machine gun flashes spread widely along each wing, and why the He111's were flying so low.

I am waiting for the next season of "Shetland" to come out. Nothing being released this year and I have to keep reminding myself not to bother looking for it. COVID-19 blew up their filming schedule so badly that they decided by last fall to not even attempt a 2021 season. When they next can, they'll go at it to record what they need for two seasons at the same time.

Probably because there's a lot of practical effects. Imo for now anyways, cgi won't be able to surpass reality, doesn't mean it can't be cool though

@@thisdanguy yeah. I want to do vfx and cgi but Ive always been of the opinion that a mix is the best. Using practical effects for some stuff but cgi for others. It often produces the best looking movies and best stories

That score is gorgeous! Also love all the small and big effects to transform things into a 1940s look. Having produced a number of music videos, I know many of these issues with weather, unwanted elements in shot and the amount of experience and creativity it takes to come up with ways to do something like the submerged plane or the dog fights. Beautiful work!

Considering the weather was so unforgiving, the whole thing has a great summer feel, the music adds drama and payoff as intended. Lovely work, congrats to all involved.
