I have lived on my own since the age of 13 I never got to experience the family atmosphere. My mom used to beat me to the point that I would bleed . I finally got the judge to emancipate me so I could go to work and be able to support myself. I went to work on a small cattle farm for 3 years and I loved it. The farm was sold and I was left looking for another job at 16. I went to work in a strip mine until I was old enough to get my GED and join the military. I have never regretted joining the Army they taught me how to be a man and responsible.

My grandfather was from South Carolina, and several of his siblings stayed there when he moved north in stages ultimately to Indiana. As he moved his family north, he lost more of the southern accent to the point where by the time I was able to remember, he would tease his sisters that "pee can" as they pronounced the name of the tree and nut was actually an "emergency roadside relief tactic" :)
