Sometimes it's nice to get that extra weight but it's aggravating having one house to watch after and mess up the weekend. Getting moved to a new settlement week can go either way also...

Ben, I’ll give you a break since you’re a first generation farmer, but never have I ever seen my forbears wear shorts while farming. Now, I suspect there might have been some chicken legs (like yours, don’t want any chickens to be insulted) in the bunch, but they were/are a closely held secret. And no amount of homemade lemonade over ice will break my silence, although you can try. Beyond aesthetics, there’s a whole lot of goo-losh out there that will sting and bite you. What you gonna do when that stinger/biter heads north from your “athletic” calves? 😂 On a serious note, you two are true farmers and gentlemen. The outpouring of kindness and generosity when you two heard I’d lost my dad will never be forgotten. I’ll head over for that glass of lemonade and a tomato sandwich real soon. Duke’s, please. 🩷🩷🩷

😂😂 Your comment gave me a good laugh! In my defense, I had just changed out of my chicken house clothes and was about to head to pick up my kids from daycare. Apparently, if you wear your chicken clothes to the daycare it is frowned upon and you get lots of funny looks! We were very sorry to hear of your dad's passing. He will be missed. If there is anything we can do around here please don't hesitate to reach out. Come by and see us sometime if you are in the area, and we'll whip up some lemonade and tomato sandwich.

That is called evaporative cooling.... Sucking hot air thru a cooling medium in this case water,... in an A/C unit it is an evaporator filled with a chemical that changes from a hot liquid to a cool gas( "evaporates" The seemingly cool gas travels to the Compressor where the gas is compressed to the Condensor where air flow thru blows the heat trapped in the liquid out into the atmosphere, changing the hot gas into a warm liquid,,,, It works because there is a pressure/temperature relationship...... High pressure/ high tem low pressure low temp Hot always moves toward cold.... never the opposite

We had foggers/fogger pads prior to the cool cells. Pretty similar concept also, just not as efficient.

Can yall do a video on how manage the money made off each flock? Im trying to get into poultry farming but im trying to pick the brains of guys that are experienced on how to manage money for expenses and profit. Thank yall for all the chicken house videos they have been amazing and I hope to see more, God bless!

Yes, we have talked about doing a video on the financial side of the poultry business. The biggest problem I see is people not understanding depreciation and loan terms. Hopefully soon we can go over all that in a video as well as how the pay structure works!

Been running 20 54” fans per house in 4 houses 24/7 for basically last 2 weeks. But they leave Thursday/Friday 61/62 days old

Sounds like that power bill might be a little high this flock. Hope things go smoothly for your last few days and you have a good settlement.

Nice…I’m going to go with slightly similar…although I’m probably pulling air from underground which is cooler and also have chilled water or a coolant do most of the cooling. I’ll 🐝 featuring it and my 🐝’s on my KZread.

Thanks! The flock was decent. Had bad high mortality in one house that held me back. Wasn’t too bad though. Hope all is well at your farm.

😂😂 thanks! He comes by periodically. Maybe 2 or 3 times a flock. He pretty much leaves us alone as long as everything looks good.

We don’t have interior foggers. We used our old fogger lines for the outside of the houses to supply our cool cells.

Hey brother. How many houses do you look after? and what is the stocking density of each house? How large are they? 50x500?

I have 4 houses and Eric has 4 houses. At one time it was all one big farm and then it got split into two several years ago. We place right at 30,000 chickens in each house. They are 40 x 500. We raise about a 35 day 4 lb bird.

Hey, yours method of grow broilers looks so diffrent from european. How long do you keep chicken? What average weight of chicken do you have at the end? At what FCR? What type of broiler you grow? Maybe ross or cobb?

I’ve heard it’s a lot different here than in Europe. We keep our birds about 35 days and they weigh just under 4 lbs usually. Sometimes a little over. Our feed conversion usually runs around 1.60-1.70 (sometimes a little higher sometimes a little lower). Right now we are growing all Ross birds. It changes from time to time though. I prefer the Cobb. What’s your operation like?

@@FarmerHunt After each flock manure is remove, house is wash and disnfect. New bedding is usually made of straw, some people use pellets or wood shavings. Typicaly we do 6 flocks/year. At the beginning, for the first 3-4 days, we supplement the food on paper. Most people grow ross 308, some cobb 500. It depends, but here standard is keeping chicken to 42 day with partial slauther on 35th day. 35 day weight around 4,75 Ibs and 6,2 Ibs at 42 day. FCR vary from feed and house but gets around 1,55-1,65. Of course there are diffrent method of growing brolier across europe.

What do yall do with the bedding after it is removed? Are you responsible for paying for new bedding each flock? It cost about 6-7,000 each time we clean out just in saw dust. How do the Ross 308 do for yall? That's what we are growing now.

@@FarmerHunt Its use as fertilizer on fields. As bedding I use straw from own fields. People often sell manure for exchange in straw bedding. Yes its cost that we add. On concrete floor we use little straw or pellet so it's cheeper. I think we got diffrent climat in europe, a lot wetter. We can't keep that dry litter at all time. I don't have much comparison, but ross work good for ous.
