You guys put so much in to this and make it look so easy! I was so surprised to see 4 of you in the same room all listening to try and pull out the best info out of me as well as the pre production and the amount of content you edit out. I always tell people to check your channel out as the benchmark for a quality video podcast. Thanks for having me on

To improve your lighting you'll need at least 2 lights. Ideally 4. 2 with soft boxes pointing at you and your guests. If you can get them the opposite side of you to the camera so you're shooting into the light from the shadow side even better 2 lights as hair/rim lightings. If you have a white ceiling you could place these on the floor pointing up at an angle towards the back of yourselves and your guests and the bounce from the ceiling will add some fill to the room. Have these lights opposite to your key light

Why not do just 2 lights that aim in an X. The light behind JH will light the guests and rim JH; the lights opposite JH will light JH and rim the guests. Third light for fill above cameras maybe, but room is so tiny it might not be necessary.

@@masonzbrown that's also another great solution, which I've used a few times. Depends what style of lighting they want. There is no wrong or right way (kinda)

About lighting, I see you don't have too much space so maybe a good solution could be mounting lightweight lights to a ceiling rail. Then you can make a Cross-Back Lighting Setup, it allows you to: - Free ur studio space - Key and Back Light at the same time - Shoot shadow side (more aesthetic) I guess 2 Amaran 60X with a softbox each will do the job. Then you can bounce that Aputure Nova light to fill your shadows as you please. If you need more detailed instructions, let me know. I'll be glad to help.

Packaging has been on the mind here too. Not just booking guests and narrowly focusing on the thing they're most known for, but how to best display their full value and industry footprint more broadly. The pre-interview tip is gold in that regard, gives them and yourself time to consider whats top of mind rather than coming in with talking points. Simple but easy to overlook. Thanks guys 😊

Great episode! In terms of lighting a large room like that try a lantern overhead. A white tablecloth will help to kick light back to the guests while simply being a tablecloth (meaning it can be in the frame) some practical lights will go a long way to sculpt the scene! Have fun!

First and one of the biggest tips is shoot on the shadow side. It's just looks way better that way. Lighting is such a difficult art, but some little things like that can make a huge difference to how dynamic a shot can look. Love love love this podcast, and not only has it been educational for me but super inspiring! Thank yall for doing what yall are doing!

I love this podcast so much, I always learn so much from you guys, even if the topic is something that I think won't apply to me as a solo KZread creator. But it's making me a better editor, and I'm sure it will help me collaborate better in the future when I'm able to afford to hire an editor. One little comment, you asked about someone who could help you light your studio better. You should have Harris Heller and his editor on the show, Harris always looks great in all of his videos, so well lit, and he really knows his stuff because he also reviews various lights and does tutorials on lighting on his channel. He's also a musician and a livestreamer, who originally got his start on Vine way back when. He knows the online content creation industry inside and out. I'm sure it would make for an interesting show, and you could have your lighting questions answered as well. His channel about business and technical stuff like lighting, is Senpai Gaming.

When it comes to the lighting take a tip from how MKBHD did their office. Bit expensive, but I'm sure you can find a way to do it cheaper. Also Harris Heller has some good videos on it!!

I do have multiple podcasts that I run.. I recommend riverside as well. But your video setup is highly in efficent but gets anway with murder since you a big name in the industry... I do liveedit while podcasting 3 camera angle setups. Get an 300 dollar switcher and 2-3 cameras and switch live edit while talking. Your quality and work follow in generally will be way higher. my podcast is tiny but better video quality.. i mange mutiple podcast create before consume (new episodes have that setup) and the Infinite creative podcast riverside weekly and sometimes liveediting

16:00 30 min or less is way too short. If you're getting these great guests on the show then you should be maximizing their time. If you record 2 whole hours, then use that film. At least in clips or shorts
