can you tell me the land that you found with the water issue. I do water studies and would like to know where that land is.
Wish I had known this 20 years ago. At times I get really angry. I want to live as you do, but now my husband and I are too old. We do not have the physical capabilities that you do. It simply irks me to no end. Lived way too many years trying to do what society wanted. I had no idea this was possible. Now, in my 60s I feel cheated and almost wish I did not know what I now know. But, I can't get too sad. We now live on an acre of land and have a house that supports what we can do. I learned to can, wash raw wool fleece and spin it into yarn. I have so far grown my own cotton, harvested it, and am now preparing it for spinning. I have learned to weave and just got a large 4 harness loom that will be put upstairs in one of the spare bedrooms. Enlarged the garden space we have with 3 more raised beds and planted flax seed for linen in the place where I grew cotton last year. So, I am doing something. All is not lost. I will do what I can with the time that is left me. Hope I can leave this to my kids and that they will continue this life of living simply and being more self reliant.

Thanks but I don't think my husband and I would fit in well. If we were to join or be a part of such an effort, it would have to have a very good, holy and stable Catholic community church at the center of all activities. A good priest would be essential. Without strong moral values that are truly lived in the lives of each of the persons of such an effort as IC this type of effort, for us anyway, would be fruitless. Just as a family that does not pray together, stay to geather, so a community that does not pray together, remain stable, cohesive, moral or safe.
Your investigation of potential properties would have left Sherlock Holmes in awe. I think you two found a real gem of a homestead. I can hardly wait to see how you solve your solar electric system. Keep up the good work and I truly appreciate the lack of drama in your videos.
Fabulous, intelligent, and inspiring! Thank you so much! It wasn't luck, it was the hand of God blessing you!
Most people don't look at the entire picture when looking to purchase a home or land. They just see the superficial stuff, and take the plunge. It's up to us to do our due diligence. Utilize all the resources available to research the place your interested in along with the surrounding areas. We did our research before making an offer on the 20 acre property with a home. Excellent video!
Awesome video!!!! Jeremy I could listen to you guys all day... you both have a storytellers voice!!!! It will be 5 years in November we bought our homestead and loving it!!!! The old farmhouse is on grid, because mom's health. the barn and outbuilding were on grid ,but was vandalized before we bought the place. They took the wiring, which is fine by me, the buildings are going to be off grid anyways...i look forward to your solar series!!!!! Your journey of looking was similar in the length time and we actually drove by it often . My grandparents lived on the same road for 40+ years...lol
I like your thinking. You explain your methods plainly and usefully for others like myself.
Thank you, Jeremy, for your very detailed and concise explanation of what it took to obtain and research to land this purchase.
So happy you found such a great piece of land and the sellers would work with you. We learned Cash is KING when buying. Our sellers accepted our low offer because we offered cash verses involving a bank and all the bank's expectations of the old 1935 farmhouse. I advised others to sell your home rent an apartment and have your cash go to work for you.
Really looking forward to seeing your land be transformed!
Great informative vid Jeremy, bought my place 24 yrs ago out of the paper shop lol just a little ad that said small house and pond on 4 acres 25.000, still here 👍👍👍😃

As always, you guys are so thoughtful and thorough with your decisions. Whether someone wants to homestead or not, lots of good advice here. Thanks.

Great advice! Next step is to get our own land like you did. We spent over a year looking for the home we live in now. Patience paid off for us.
Wow! Excellent video! Thank you for sharing your knowledge.
Really an awesome talk about how to approach a land purchase! Very thorough and clearly presented, I am sure you just saved some people future heartache. 🙂
I love looking at real estate online (even though I'll never be able to afford any) and saw your property. They had even made a nice video featuring it. I'm just glad you guys found it and now its future is in capable & loving hands. Best wishes on all your endeavors.
Thank you. You sure have a beautiful place now, real happy for you :)
Great Job Jeremy and Jaime!
Very nice informative video. Cant wait until you start develop the land.
thanks a lot ! We're on our search as well - just pausing for around 3 years because of our one year old and soon newborn baby. Greetings from Germany - you really encourage us!
Hi again! Your place was well worth the wait! The very best parts all the water sources and the trees for fuel or whatever else. Great info for those that only think you need a realtor. Your huge blessing was to find not only a property you really liked but to find sellers that would be patient to wait and work with you. Been there done all this but it's really special when all parts of the deal come together like yours. So happy for you folks. Well worth the wait!! Enjoy!!
You guys have found beautiful real estate and I look forward to watching your progress along the way. Thank you for taking the time to teach others and for doing it so well.
Very helpful video. Your presentation is organized and straight forward. The whole series has been thought provoking and helps to keep the potential homesteader grounded. Thanks for sharing such as great series.
Like how you guys provide clear, concise, usable info. You have so much potential at this property. Looking forward to future developments. Best wishes.
Awe! love the swallowtail and the hummingbird. We are waiting for our hummers as we are in Wisconsin.
Thank You for making these wonderfully informative videos.
Awesome video..again. Great information. Thank you.
Thank you! It is so helpful to have this information and encouragement. I want this kind of life so bad but I am not in the position financially to jump in as yet. It is a positive light at the end of a very dark tunnel to have a process and a glimmer of hope from people who have gone through this and have a list of things that worked for them. So thanks again.
Excellent advice. Thank you for sharing.
That's a very beautiful property. You were so lucky all went as well as it did.
Very informative detail. Thanks for sharing.
I really enjoy your videos. Congrats on finding your property. We are in the exact same process and have never considered Craigslist. Great information, please keep them coming. It has taken me several years to come to the realization that "luck" is nothing less than the blessing of God.
Your family gets an A+ ! Camps with acreage are a great way to start out. Our current raw land was a wedding present from my brother-in-law.That said, we had to pay to have it surveyed. There were conservation covenants to clear up. So watch out for those! We had to be X number of feet away from a protected stream and X number of feet away from a land trust. There was extra paperwork involved, in order to bring in the grid. The electric company required the wires to be underground. They determined a safety hazard in using overhead voltage near our farm log landing. We were zoned Agriculture in a small town, so I'm not talking residential codes. After a year of planning, all is well...
WOW that was some awesome information 👏thanks
I just purchased an off grid property and am going to be building a cabin on it. I was looking for most of the same things you guys were! I'm going to chronicle the journey in a KZread channel! Love your channel and watching what you guys do and thinking about my options! Keep up the good work!
The tools you used to assess the land sound incredible! That will be invaluable information for me very soon, I am looking to buy some land in the next year. It might be a starter property just so that I have somewhere to be until I can find what I need, but for both that and the Big Dream Property, those tools will be so useful! Thank you for sharing 💖Chelsea
Totally love these informative videos. From Canada. Having my oldest son watching you. Looking to buy his own property and although somethings might be different, in general knowledge from experience is important. Thank you for sharing.
I believe that the great spirit puts you where you need to be when you need to be there. It was meant to happen when it did. Be thankful and enjoy your new chapter in your lives
That's awesome. I'm so happy that you guys were able to find the property that works for you. My husband and I are in the depths of house hunting right now and it's a frustrating situation if you're looking for a homestead property. I'm at the point where I just want to get land and build a house, but my husband's health situation won't allow us to do that. So we continue to search for a property with land. Wish us luck or pray for us.
Beautifully done. Thanks.
Thank you for a clear due diligent list.
Thank you for sharing all this great info Jeremy. As always you've provided some very valuable insight. I'll be watching this again and taking some notes on some of the things that I hadn't thought to look into. Your diligence certainly paid off. You found a great place. There's only one problem. That's the place that I was hoping to find!! ;-) I too am hoping to end up in or around the foothills when the time comes for me to get out of CT and onto my land. Maybe I'll luck out and find something decent like you did. You guys would be ideal neighbors! As you said. Like minded neighbors are important. Thanks again for sharing your searching and buying experience. This info is going to come in handy. Looking forward to what's next for you guys. - All the best. ~ Theresa
Congrats guys! We had a similar story. after a year of looking over 3 states and visiting several lots, we finally found our 20 rural acres. you don't need a realtor for a basic homestead and if you are trying to do it on the cheap....well, be creative. we considered property ranging from 1 to 20 acres. from small towns to totally off grid. it all depends on the life you want/need to live. it is a learning process.....and a lot of that learning is about yourself.... Thanks for the videos and best of luck on your new property!
Great word of encouragement!!! My wife and I have been looking for a place in the country to raise our boys but everything we look at sells within a week. It does get a little disheartening. Thanks for another great vid!!!
Great video! Very informative! I never knew the counties had such sites! (Ours does - I paused the video to snoop it out!)
Great information-thanks so much Jeremy. We have about 18acres on Whidbey Island we would like to sell and I never told to use Craigslist for property nor Realtor.com. Will use both and hope for the best. Your property is beautiful. Look forward to seeing how you and Jaime develop it.
Thank you for that , a lot goes into finding the right place, appreciate the details
Another outstanding video.
Great stuff. Thanks for sharing.
Yep. We found our homestead/farm on Craigslist as well. We watched for months and when our place popped up we had a deal on it within 24 hours. Excellent video and great information... 100% agree with you on not settling on a place that does not meet your criteria. Be patient and wait!
Great information! Thanks!
Great looking piece of land.
Very informative series-thank you
Good job, I'm looking for the same thing. It seems that such places don't exist and might require a huge diesel generator to live off grid. Thank you for the humidity warning in one of your vids that caught me off guard!
Great series. I learned a lot in this one.
Great Video it's very encouraging
Thank you! You guys are the best

Good info. Thanks for posting.
Thanks so much great information. We’re in our process for researching for a spot. Thanks again Pammie from Chicago
We were in very much the same boat. Took us FORVER to find our 32 acres. Like you said each property has it's own problems and you are fighting with 10 other people to purchase it. I would say as a piece of advice is look at them anyway because it may not be what you think is wrong. We bought what I said we never would which was a bowling alley property but it was plenty wide enough for the price it was and we had a nice 1 KM trail to a completely empty area and crown land.
Your property is so absolutely beautiful. Love all the different areas you shared on video, got caught up in the scenery had to go back to listen to advise.

Happens to me all the time lol
Good explanation on finding your property.
This is extremely timely!!! We are in the process of looking for property. Unfortunately, we are not young and we have my father with us. I'm afraid it would not be good for us to go off grid, so I am also looking for access to electricity. You confirmed my suspicion that real estate agents were not too anxious to help with land purchases or even lower priced properties. We are looking at a cash purchase, but not a large sum (only 5 figures, not 6). I had contacted an agent and I got the feeling he wasn't thrilled about my criteria. And yes, I have been looking in all the same places you listed. However, we are several states away from where we want to end up, a good 8-10 hours away. We can't make frequent trips to check out land. Have been debating on placing an ad on Craig's list for the area with my criteria. We need to be out of here and set up in our new home before winter.
Enjoyed the series!

Thank you for changing locations while talking. Love to see your beautiful piece of property. Realtors and the MLS are not long for this world thanks to the internet. Home inspectors need to enlist real estate attorneys and combine their services. It would cost much less than what realtors charge.
Really good info. We have found wonderful properties that were vacant but tied up in family disputes. And you are SOOO RIght about google earth. Sometimes it is clear to see why people are selling their property 🐓🐓🐓🐓🐓🐓🐓 and the listing may provide an aerial photo that is many years old. I believe dedicated internet connection will soon have much better options for extreme rural areas. Thanks ❤️
You always give such detailed, easy to understand and apply information. You have a gorgeous property. I love being in the woods and seeing and hearing and smelling all God's creation.
