I hope you guys use breathing protection when youre not doing it for a demo video because all that dust and stuff is going to destroy your lungs if you do this job for any length of time.

Thanks for this comment, I’ve been doing it 5 years and only have worn a mask 10% of the time. I will be ordering a good one.

As the new guy in the maintenance department I got to clean 23 dryers and vents, some short runs, some longer and some thirty feet long at 21 locations around the county a few months ago.

Have you ever had it break in the vent? If so how many uses wouldn't you say you got out of it and how did you get the stuck portion out?

Yes we have! How we got it out was we would either push another brush thru OR send in out strong suction hose to catch the brush part and pull it out hoping the suction was still grabbed onto it. These methods have worked for us. Work case, if the vent was accessible, we’d cut into the vent push the brush out and then repair the vent pipe. We’ve had our dryer vent cleaning rods and brush for couple years. We try to take care of our tools so they take care of us.

It works better with a flex rod at the end if it’s a long distance or a bunch of curves or elbows in the way.

Your right! We don’t do a whole lot of dryer vent cleanings so what we have has been working pretty good for us.

I believe we got it at Big Lots. It’s been so long ago when we got it but I believe was was to hold pool sticks and it just fits perfectly for the rods and helps with transporting everywhere.

If we go out to the job only doing a dryer vent cleaning we charge $165 normally. If a customer adds on other services we drop the price to $95.

Great question! We use our Rotobrush. It's our air duct cleaning machine we use to clean our air ducts. But you should be able to use a shop van and just cover the dryer vent pipe as your suctioning so that you get the maximum amount of suction possible.

Dude should be wearing eye protection goggles & a mask so he doesn’t get that dryer lint & hair in eyes & lungs! Big health risk there! Nurse here! 🙋🏻‍♀️

Do you need a business license for this or insurance? Is this the only tool needed to clean dryer vents (the rod and brush)? Also - how do you know where the dryer vent is located? Some are on the roof right?

*This is just our opinion and not law binding* It’s not exactly necessary to have a business license to clean dryer vents and as far as insurance it may be helpful to have to cover yourself if anything really bad happens but again probably not fully necessary. We are fully insured due to having many other services. As far as tools…we use the rod(s), brush and a suction equipment. We use our air duct cleaning portable machine if we are also doing air duct cleaning. If we only have a dryer vent cleaning job we’ll use our truck mounted carpeting cleaning machine’s suction hose. We find out the location of how the dryer vent is ran by first asking the customer & see if we can follow the piping of the dryer vent. To determine where it vents out we turn the dryer on if there is a dryer and then see which vent outside has the flap open due to the dryer pushing the air out. Yes some are on the roof.
