Ойын-сауық

Amazing to see the V&A recognize Katharine's remarkable skill! There are a ton of talented people in the British glass world, so great to see this recognition!
What a soft spoken humble extremely talented woman! I really wish we saw her engraving the inside of the piece, I’m so curious to see that, seems impossible!

I do not think the inside is engraved, I think it is the optical illusion she was speaking about. As I see it, she was working with a round piece of glass with a hollow in it that shows the reflexion of the engraving from the outside. But I can be mistaken of course.

That is i think a reflection of the design on the outside. It's reflecting off the surface of the glass.

It's a solid glass with multiple overlays including the core
Would have listened and learned for another 60 minutes; fascinating and beautiful!
She strives for the best. Such a clear discription of the copper wheel! "It's not the copper, but the grit and the glue that cuts"! Mounting the wheel on the spindle was si practical! Thanks for the sweet craftsperson!
I actually took up lampworking because of a different video in this series ( the one about little mosaics), and this looks like a fun addition to my hobbies! Coleman's work is so cool!
love that she mentioned the method of using a copper saw covered with grit & oil was used to cut stones for the ancient Egyptian pyramids too many people think these methods are mysterious to the point we don’t know how ancient peoples made such beautiful and precise things. really they’re just ingeniously simple methods, and still being employed thousands of years later because of how effective they are.
I've only ever tried it using the micro drill in a glass blowing course. Glass is amzing to work with, and i could immediately feel that getting into cutting designs could be highly addictive. This work is OUTSTANDING. Lovely to see a master at work! Thanks for sharing.
Very fortunate to have attended Katharine's class at BildWerk.
Stunningly beautiful work....what a quiet genius this lady is! Marvelous.
Utterly mesmerising. What beautiful objects this lady creates. A true Artist….no self aggrandising.

A very skilful person, always a pleasure to see a master crafter, whatever their medium. Also really interesting to learn about the copper, oil and grit technique, fascinating.
Such interesting crafting of beautiful art works.
I had no idea. Such a lovely craft, what a pleasure to see a master.
Beautiful ad fascinating. I wasn't aware of such artist. Thank you.
absolutely breath taking work. Hope every country would perish their arts and artists our arts have been taken over by machines and it is amazing what machines can do that being said it will never be the same compared to hand made you just don't appreciate it as much, the freeform lines created by human hand is what makes the piece beautiful and fluid. Her art enhances the beauty of glass. Respect and greetings from Japan.
Beautiful work, Thank you.
Absolutely marvelous work I was fortunate to watch your video, Thank you. But the quality of the imagination is equal only by the craftsmanship. The imagination of tools is equally impressive. Thank you, looking forward to seeing an exhibition in the future, you have open my eyes.
Amazingly stunning and inspiring. I have just purchased a small hand engraver to create snowflakes on coloured glass. After stumbling on your talents, I want to play. How on earth can I find someone to add a layer of colour over a piece of glass? You are my hero now.
I wish I had the time and money to spend the time of my life thoroughly exploring the multitude of museums of the world.
Absolutely beautiful 😍
What an amazing skill, love these informative videos
What a talent! It must be amazing to be a glass engraver, to be connected to centuries of tradition and techniques. Fascinating.

WOW. So beautiful. such skill. Thank you for sharing this. She's AMAZING.
Really beautiful and fine, a masterpiece!
Awesome video! I could watch & listen to her for hours & days on end! We are lucky to have watched & learned so much from this incredibly talented woman! I wonder how she transitioned into such a skilled craft-woman? It would be very interesting to her about her journey to get to where she is now! Like everything that is mindfully & wonderfully crafted, by experts, there are so few left & soon their craft will be lost forever! I would think the V&A would be offering Internships & Apprenticeships in order to continue these beautiful crafts for the next generations!!
what an inspiring craft. thank you for explaining the process & giving us a glimpse of your incredible work, as it's being created.
😮 I am in awe of this work. It is absolutely amazing. Thank you for sharing this video and art form. So much appreciated by me. 🌞🌞🌞
Wow! Just exquisite! I don't have any aspirations to be a glass cutter, but I think it's incredibly inspiring that you have come as far as you have starting from a community art class. Of course, you have to have some innate talent, but so much just depends on believing in yourself and following a passion as far as it takes you.
Absolutely beautiful.

Somptueux….
just casually explains how the pyramids were built. Graham handcock eat your heart out
She just fabricated the cutting tool to do the cutting. Nice.
Great, now tell us how the ancients did it without electric grinders
Los romanos hacían mejores trabajos con piedras y palos......
Useless.
Wow fantastico
