Plus while Warner is the parent company of both DC and Cartoon Network, they didn't create them. DC was independent before Kinney Nationals bought them and later Warner Bros after Seven Arts sold the studio. Meanwhile Turner launched Cartoon Network but Warner eventually bought them. DC was originally known as National Comics Publications then National Periodical Publications Inc then renamed DC in 1977.

There are some shortcuts that require clarification. After making back the money they also got from the proceeds from selling Dad's watch and horse, and starting a chain of theatres, they finally started making movies to show in them around 1917, calling it Vitagraph. The formal beginning of Warner Brothers Pictures did not occur until 1923 (they're celebrating their 100th in 2023). Warners acquired First National around 1927; the studio released films under both names until 1935. Note the "A Warner Bros.-First National Picture" on films from then into the 50's. Vitaphone became the short-subjects division of WB in 1930, headed by Leon Schlesinger. He subcontracted Hugh Harman and Rudy Ising to make the initial Looney Tunes/Merrie Melodies from 1930-33, then Harman and Ising left for MGM. Schlesinger produced himself until 1944, when he sold out to the studio. The studios that owned theatres, Warner among them, were forced to divest them under the "Paramount Decree" of 1948. MGM/Loews, Paramount, Warners, United Artists and RKO all had to do it. Warner and television saw the need for each other in the mid-50's and sold shows initially to ABC (which Paramount had bought into), and later the other two major networks. Age and the studio's board forced Jack Warner into retirement shortly after "My Fair Lady" won the Best Picture Oscar in 1965. The Seven Arts deal nearly forced the studio to close in 1968. It was Ross who turned things around under Kinney, a diversified company, and, using the movie, TV and music production companies as one, created Warner Communications in 1971, with the music division making tons of money after its acquisitions of Atlantic and Elektra/Asylum/Nonesuch Records that year, helping the studio survive. Dirty Harry helped as well. After the various deals with AOL, AT&T and more, the company is now Warner Bros. Discovery, making content for all the various outlets it owns, along with the shows they continue to sell to broadcast networks.
