After sending shockwaves across contemporary culture and setting a new standard for provocative, socially-conscious horror films with his directorial debut, Get Out, Academy Award®-winning visionary Jordan Peele returns with another original nightmare that he has written, directed and produced. Set in present day along the iconic Northern California coastline, Us, from Monkeypaw Productions, stars Oscar® winner Lupita Nyong’o as Adelaide Wilson, a woman returning to her beachside childhood home with her husband, Gabe (Black Panther’s Winston Duke), and their two children (Shahadi Wright Joseph, Evan Alex) for an idyllic summer getaway.
Haunted by an unexplainable and unresolved trauma from her past and compounded by a string of eerie coincidences, Adelaide feels her paranoia elevate to high-alert as she grows increasingly certain that something bad is going to befall her family. After spending a tense beach day with their friends, the Tylers (Emmy winner Elisabeth Moss, Tim Heidecker, Cali Sheldon, Noelle Sheldon), Adelaide and her family return to their vacation home. When darkness falls, the Wilsons discover the silhouette of four figures holding hands as they stand in the driveway. Us pits an endearing American family against a terrifying and uncanny opponent: doppelgängers of themselves. Writer and director Peele produces for his Monkeypaw Productions alongside Sean McKittrick, Jason Blum, and Monkeypaw’s Ian Cooper. Us will be released by Universal Pictures this March, 2019.
Directed By Jordan Peele
Produced By Jason Blum, Sean McKittrick, Jordan Peele, Ian Cooper
Executive Produced By Daniel Lupi, Bea Sequeira

Damn, I didn't even see that until I watched Dead Meat's kill count for Us, yesterday. With *that* much detail put into a single camera shot/frame, it just shows how much thought, care, and attention to detail Jordan Pelee went into making this film. Yes, the hidden signs, subliminal messages, and choice dialogue are there for the audience to pick at and analyze for themselves, but shots like the Tyler/Shining twins, carefully re-created, to look *exactly* like the original, shows how much respect and careful consideration a director has for the works that inspired them. It pays homage to the previous works, while at the same time, uses those images to help tell their own story. Look at the Duffer Brothers! I, and many other Stranger Things fanatics, could fill a BOOK with all the '80's film/book Easter Eggs and plot points they incorporated into the show- From the shot of the kids walking along train tracks in Season 1 (Stand By Me), to Dustin finding a baby creature that *looks* cute, but is dangerous and deadly in Season 2 (Gremlins), to the shot of Billy's Cadillac driving towards the Starcourt mall as an exact frame-by-frame of Marty's famous attempt to get back to 1985 (Back To The Future) in Season 3, to Max's Mattel skateboard in Seasons 2 & 3- which is the same company that created Marty's skateboard in BTTF. The list goes on.

Okay, this is gonna be long: I think the connection between Get Out and Us is through the surgery. Now, I have to go into the background here, starting with Get Out. We learn in the movie that Rose's family are in the RAS (Red Alchemist Society) who are descended from the Knight's Templar. I think the Knight's Templar came up with the surgery and passed it down through several generations, down to Rose's, where the events of Get Out then take place. I imagine the surgery was made when the Knight's Templar was made (hundreds of years ago) and it just continued, without anyone finding out. At first, it was solely for the brain transplant, but when Dean and Missy did it, it was to keep the memory of their grandparents alive, so it was for personal reasons as well as the family legacy. Now, we're going back to the events of Us. When the Knight's Templar was founded (1119) and Adelaide and Red are swapped (1986) it's a difference of hundreds of years. By then, I imagine the RAS wanted to take over the whole of America, and becoming high in the government would do just that. So I think they infiltrated the government, implementing several people of the RAS into the government so they can introduce this surgery to the whole of the USA. Now, they most likely grew very popular very quickly from hypnosis, for example, and got into places such as Senators and possibly even the president of the USA. Now, they didn't want to start too big too quickly, so they took over Santa Cruz first, and experimented doing the surgery on a mass scale, with the resources of the government. However, the RAS, having done the surgery for so long, knew there was a chance of the experiment going wrong, and the fact that they were now doing it on a MUCH larger scale, the repercussions would be unbelievable. So, they made genetic clones of everybody in the USA and conducted the surgery underground as well, because it would be more suspicious above ground than under. But, they were right in thinking it could go wrong because it did (the part of Us saying an experiment went wrong) and because of the clones being made from part of everybody's DNA, they were tethered (thus the name The Tethered) to the people above. At this point, the RAS had no idea what to do with these clones, so they left them underground and because the RAS members who made The Tethered didn't tell anyone (not even their kids) the secret stayed with them, all the way to the RAS members' graves. Because nobody ended up knowing, The Tethered were forgotten about and left to themselves, without anybody knowing about them. Considering the rabbits' situation, I think the RAS members at first tested on rabbit brains, and seeing the results were good, they just left them underground and all the rabbits bred, so they always were there and also meaning the Tethered had a food supply. Because all the RAS members in the government died, and also the RAS seeing what would happen if they decided to take over the whole of the USA, they decided to stop doing the surgery, but few still continued doing it, and that continued happening up until the events of Get Out, when the surgery is finally eradicated. But since the events of Get Out take place in 2017, the events of Us have yet to happen. From when Adelaide is swapped to when the events of Us end, the real Adelaide - being Red in the movie - comes up with the whole plan and gets all of the Tethered mad enough to want control, because the real Adelaide has seen what the surface is like and how amazing it is compared to where the Tethered live and she's rightfully so angry because the fake Adelaide - who is Adelaide in the movie but is actually Red - has swapped her and condemned her to this horrible place and even split her up from her parents. So yeah, that's what I think the connection is. The surgery went wrong on a mass scale and made all the Tethered. Like if you agree! I said it would be long, didn't I?

I think the reason that Red & The Teathered were able to roam free is because when the doppleganger left she messed up the flow of how the dopplegangers moved. All they needed was for the doppleganger who changed stuff to come back & when she did that's when Red set off the chain of events especially when they found out she could talk & also communicate with them. They also learned the escaped doppleganger had a real life & they wanted the same.

8:20 I like the concept of a flash of light frees the people trapped in the sunken place. In Us I have a theory that Jason and Unteathered Jason were fascinated with fire. There must’ve been a point where the real Jason and Unteathered Jason switched either in the closet from a previous summer trip and the spark from the lighter was just enough to awaken Unteathered Jason. It makes sense that the family noticed him acting weird, his fascination of hiding in closets, building tunnels in the sand etc because the consciousness and characteristics of the Unteathered Jason transferred to the real Jason. The real Jason’s conscious is trapped in the Unteathered body while the conscious of the Unteathered is trapped in the real Jason.

In the beginning of the movie, at the amusement park, Adelade's (original) mother says to the husband "Honey, it looks like they're filming something over there, why don't you see if they need any cameos?" I think it'd be an interesting concept if that was somehow how they were able to know what was going on above and below ground prior to the abandoned experiment. Also, when they first show the inside of the vacation house as adults, they scroll by a picture of Adelade's (presumed) mother, who is now deceased, and Adelade and Jason. However, in the picture, Adelade looks away from the camera, perhaps to avoid the flash from her being something deeper than just another tether?

Also the cloned boy knew what he was doing the whole time everytime the boy got the lighter to work the real boy end up burning himself with the matches and to the point he kouldnt talk and tell anyone who he really was and how jsson was so shook at seeing the real son that's why i think zora gives him dap when he gets the trick to work.

I noticed the video end at 11:11 and in us the main verse they always refer to is Jeremiah 11:11

I may not have enjoyed Us as much as Get Out, and thought Us was kinda eh. But i can’t deny that it is an extremely detailed movie that gets even more layered the more I think about it

I noticed that when the boy enters the port-a-potty there's a sign that says "Port-a-shell". When the family is back in the house and Adelaide is explaining the story to the dad, there's a picture frame with shells. From my understanding the symbolism is used to describe the physical body as a shell where the souls of the tethered dwell
