Just a thought Allen, you mentioned in a previous video that you don't make any money off these videos, I think you should. The latest issue i had was expansion vessel connected to the balanced cold water before the check valve..When firing up, pressure was tripping reliefs.. once expansion vessel moved over to the hot side of the inlet bloc, problem resolved and expansion vessel now doing its job.. Have also seen installations with expansion relief valves installed before the cylinder and only the TPV.. Remember D1 and D2 sizes.. get Inlet bloc & expansion vessel above cylinder . would be so good if they started to build cylinders with intelligence.. pressure & temperature gauges!!

Problems with my unvented system when either heating or hot water is on, and we run hot tap. Sounds like Motorbike accelerating when you open hot tap, noise is from Pressure reducing valve/non-return valve. Hot pressure reduces within a couple of seconds of running hot tap. Cold water pressure is exceptionally high (according to plumber). The plumber suspects cold water is leeching into hot water somewhere. System looks very similar to that in the video - with pressure vessel. No obvious water discharge in tundish.

Hi - may I perhaps ask you a technical question about installing a 10litre tiny geyser that is unvented ( only if you dnt mind otherwise please forgive me but I am desperate )I know the risks, liability and warranty issues etc but lets say I dnt care about any of that and connect the inlet and outlet directly without the correct mixer but there is more than sufficient pipe to allow for expansion. You think it will work without blowing ? I wont hold you to it, just wanted an opinion as you an expert t. I dnt care if it breaks ( as long as it does not explode and cause walls to fall over. I dnt mind if it bursts lightly and spills as it will be over the bath tub. I got nothing to loose ) Thank you. Sorry if this all sounds ridicoulous. Greetings from South Africa.

Good clear information, thanks for that. As a private individual I do not have a G3 ticket, but I need some advice. My system is almost identical to the one in your test set-up. 3 months ago I paid £350 to have a new pressure reducer/relief valve unit and expansion chamber, as part of a service. After 3 months, a problem has developed, I now get a reduced hot water flow rate. Initially it is fast, ( as it was before) then within 10 secs or so it drops off significantly. All visual checks are good, the filter on the PRV is not obstructed. I would like a pointer as to what may be the problem, so I can direct the service company correctly.

@alan fowler Your problem is a poor or blocked feed into the water cylinder, the initial rush you get is the pressure being released from the system from the expansion vessel, once this is discharged, you are back to what ever mains pressure and flow that is being supplied to the cylinder, suspect blocked filter on the incoming line

  • @alanfowler1187

Plus if it doesnt re seat does that not tell you sometjing about when you do leave and the valve blows off and does not re seat imagine if youd have checked it the last time you went you could have helped by replacing it when you was last there rather than coming out again for something as simple as checking if its doing its job. Hope this helps you in your busy days at work doing your job properly.
