What about Hindu Endowment Acts ? The Wakf Act is almost a namesake act, and most of the Wakf properties are nder encroached of non Muslims. On the other hand, what percent of Hindu Endowment properties are under occupation of Muslims ? Well, a brute majority can not only occupy minority properties stating that there is no religious denomination or religion other than Hinduism, and further can abolish laws meant to safeguard rights. This is when special laws are created to create corridors. That, again, is when the state and wake board fail to nullify encroachments. Wipe off but assert and preserve in far off lands too. Strange indeed.

This board has claimed Ambani's land where Antilia is built. 5. Once they claim your land, you need to go to them (not court) and prove it’s yours. what a Joke. 6. Did you know? After government if any board is the owner of largest land, then it's Waqf board. 7. In past they have claimed the land of high court. Lol. 8. Goa has been following the uniform civil code for over 100 years since the time of Portuguese.

As a person from Uttarakhand, people have been demanding a land reforms law. There was a significant protest recently. Since the state's inception, no government seems interested in addressing this issue, nor does anyone care for the Uniform Civil Code. It's puzzling why attention is diverted from checking industries that are destroying local ecosystem to focus on less critical matters.

To be fair, if your community is still not ready even after 75 years of independence for any progressive laws and is going make stupid arguments about diversity, then the problem is the community, not the laws. Also, if some wants to live “under Sharia”, those girls from Kerala went to IS for exactly that, perhaps one can do that if they are feeling suffocated.

here is the truth-This is a modest start for UCC and should have been done at the Center by the BJP but they chickened out because of the coming elections.there are several parts of it which will not stand upto challenges in the SC especially the live-in registration part which will be struck down immediately by the court.This doesnt mean UCC is not needed,it is a necessity in such a diverse country like india.

Which civil matter are you or your community is suffering from thats not addressed by the current civil law? Central govt. is not for creating civil laws since you want communities to decide on their own how they want to handle their civil matters. Gender equality should have been a priority. Remove maintenance, alimony, compensation, etc from marriage/live-in relationships and see 90% fake cases getting cleared from family courts. Neither male nor female would give anything to each other (keep underage children and parents an exception). If you want to separate, then just separate, no money from husband side. Otherwise just stay together and live that happily. If husband/wife does anything wrong, then investigate and punish/aquit him/her. What's this maintenance and all? If one is guilty, then you can later impose a penalty. This "interim maintenance", "maintenance","alimony" thing is corrupting our society. Sacred marriages are breaking, specially from girls side.

There is one more aspect of live in relationships that we are seeing these days. As couples live with each other and families are generally not aware, they feel no responsibility nor they are afraid of committing crimes if something goes wrong in their relationship. As live in relationships can be ended on the fly without much fuss, it sometimes leaves people in depression and in the worst case, they are committing suicides. There should be better legislature about these issues without making laws authoritative.

Live-in relationships are by choice of both partners. This bill is highly regressive in this regard.

I totally agree that live in relationship laws are kind of stupid. But there is some positive side to it. We hear it in the news that that many times women and girls are r*aped on pretext of marriage. And I think this will make them more safe. But I still think it is very harsh for most people.

The minimum age is 21/18 - so I do not see how "child marriage" CAN be registered, Akash. Agreed that the "live-in" section should be deleted. If formalized, what - once "out of live-in" the partner gets alimony? WHAT is the purpose of "formalizing" an informal arrangement if both parties don't have any financial obligations towards each other, and NEITHER does the State (both Centre and UK government?) towards them (maintenance, inheritance, etc.) HOWEVER, how does a CHILD out of wedlock prove the ancestry 🤔Maybe this is why - maybe the law can FORCE registration of both parents of a child - so the "live-in section" can be limited to cases WITH CHILDREN.

And the endeavour has been putting forth. One may agree or disagree, but it's really a good attempt. The abnormalities would be struck down by courts

Live in relationship point is really awkward, we all have freedom to live with dignity why should we share personal relationship with a govt or society. It would totally be misused by various political organization to find such couple who are not registered. it would be better for uncles but not for younger generation who have many things to see and experience in their life. It should be abolished.

UCC is fine, but what BJP has introduced is not a UCC, there are like tons of exceptions, and then the major focus of govt. is to keep on eye on youth whom they cannot give jobs. Because if they get into relationship then tomorrow they will ask for stability and job security. None of which BJP can offer. Reminds me of those mindless uncle aunties.
