Another great video ... I look forward to supporting you when you release your book on writing a cozy!! I will also recommend it to the cozy crime writing group I am in when it is released. Next time I am on there I will be sure to mention your videos as they are so helpful, clear, and concise, and I love how you use examples to really drive your points home. I haven't said it enough as I've ploughed through your videos, but they are brilliant - by far the best I have seen for cozy - or any crime based mystery, so far. The way you present, and explain things, just gels so well with the way my brain works. When I finally get my act together I will also be sure to thank you in the contributions/thank you page, when I publish, because honestly, I think my books would be 'weak' compared to what they will be with all this new information I have absorbed from you. Your videos have helped me get into the right mindset to write a cozy properly (I eventually want to try my hand at dark, gritty crime fiction once I've developed the skills) and you have helped me really think about all the aspects needed to write any sort of crime related book (especially ones with twists and turns). But most importantly, you've also helped me identify some major flaws in my writing - the biggest being that as a pantser, I am not thinking enough about the villains narrative, or the fact that every character is the star in their own story, so to speak, and have their own things going on. I am now becoming a plotter because I don't think it is possible to be a pantser when it comes to the type of books I eventually want to write. In the meantime I am having a lot of fun planning, using all the information and tools you've given me with your channel. Sorry this is so long, but it is to make up for all the times I didn't comment when I should have, and because i want you to know just how much these videos mean to many of us watching them, who don't always think to comment.

Just what I needed. I'm halfway done with my book and now have the second half to complete. I'm an underwriter so it has been a challenge. Thanks for your tips:)

James Scott Bell wrote an excellent book all about midpoints and their significance called Writing Your Novel From the Middle. I think you all who's stuck about the midpoint should check it out - it blew my mind :)

How would we end the story if qe wanted it to be a tragedy... "um, it's not?" Seriously though, great and very actionable information here. I'll be checking out your other videos for sure. Subbed.

It'd be interesting to combine these three types of midpoints with Yes, But/No, and Furthermore. For example, the Dragon Descends seems very much like a Yes, But. YES, you've seen and been charmed by the dinosaurs, BUT now they're out and hungry. YES, you've all survived the distress call, BUT a scary thing burst out of John Hurt's chest and is hungry. The Deeper In could be either, depending. However, I'm not sure about the Bad Ending. It feels almost like a No, But. NO, you can't achieve your goal, BUT you can try to achieve a different one... Unless it's NO, you didn't achieve your goal this try, AND FURTHERMORE, you can't achieve it at all. Thoughts?

Hmm... I like the way you think, but I have to admit I'm having a hard time wrapping my head around this one. I'll have to give it some more thought.
