    Hey Mr Salles, I am now an A-Level Lit student, and I would just like to take this opportunity to thank you for the part you and your videos/resources played in helping me to achieve 9s for both Lang and Lit at GCSE. I am a visually impaired student, so other than the deduction of SPaG marks, I managed to achieve full marks in both papers! To all future GCSE cohorts, it may seem a long and tedious process, especially with these rather demanding essay-subjects, but let me tell you, it is absolutely possible to to succeed! So, once again, I thank you Mr Salles for all your help! I would wholeheartedly agree with the general consensus that you are indeed the internet’s most prized English teacher. :)

    This helped me so much! I’m in year 10 and I just did my mock exam for ‘an inspector calls’ . I got 29/34 (AQA exam board) which is the maximum teachers are allowed, in my school, to give as a 30 is a grade 9 (it’s too early in the course to be given 9s in mocks).

Throughout the course of year 11 I viewed the content you put out, and it paid off with an 8,9 for my mocks and 9,9 in 2023 GCSE's. This is not solely a thank you in regards to these grades however, but the confidence and comfort youve given me for Alevels and beyond in regards to my writing skills, analytical skills and more. I cannot recommend your videos enough! May you always be blessed.

    Thank you for the reply sir. 1- I watched all your videos religiously. This allowed me to have a vast amount of alternative interpretations, as well as gain a deeper understanding on the books/concepts and different opinions. I occasionally wrote notes, but mainly it was just for exposure. In addition, all context I needed was found in your videos, however using the British library was also a nice tool for context. 2-I read alot of grade 9 essays as well as your guides, even if they were not for my allocated gcse texts, it aided me to form an articulate response. Also, being able to write a solid introduction as well as using PEE sentences (as taught by you). 3- I would revise with friends in groupchats by posing a theme or question, then all responding/'blurting' with our different viewpoints/quotes/analysis/context. We later then compiled the best ideas. It also allowed me to gain deeper understandings of the text, and have the ability to 'argue' my thoughts on a certain theme or character. 4- I had a positive mindset to english, trying to actually enjoy the texts inevitably makes learning and revising easier. 5- In the last few weeks before gcses, doing practise questions really aided me. At that stage, it was just about trusting my ability to write quality in the allocated time. I would do as many questions as I could and realised that the themes and characters all tie in. By this time, I had around 6 key quotes per text (in addition to a few quotes I intended to embed) that were heavily analysed. Therfore all that was required in the exam was to rewrite what I already practised time and time again.

Quickly, he got up and was so close , he held my shoulder, he felt like metal , I felt his warm breath on me , it smelt like rotten tuna, I look back , i punch him , I look at his face, it was my principal, you can see his ribcage .Suddenly, a tree fell in him, thats it , i will never find my way out of this dark forest. can your thesis loosely link to the question or does it have to stay exactly on topic? E.G could you discuss how Scrooge's fears control and create his need for redemption and go into the idea of using guilt (and fear) to control the readers or would that be too off topic? Question: explore how Dickens presents Scrooge’s fears in A Christmas Carol.

    Hi Mr Salles! Just wanted to say thank you for helping me with my GCSEs. Also, I gained full marks (40/40) in my Language Paper 1 question 5. Would you like me to email you my story if ever you needed an example or anything for a future video? Thanks in advance!

    I am slightly confused cz they ask the question in two parts In the extract given and then in the story as a whole.... So how should we then structure our paragraph ?

    Hi sir i have a question - since there were two "theme" questions on the 2023 aic paper, is it possible that there could be 2 "character"-focused questions for 2024? thanks!!

    Hi Mr Salles, I was wondering in the language paper 1 question 2 or 3, when listing out 8 points , do you put numbers next to each point like (1. 2. 3.) to make it clear?

    Try it in your mock. It tells the examiner how many explanations you are writing, so it is very hard not to give you the marks

    Hi sir, do you think that chat gpt is able to mark Q5 Paper 1 english language. Before, i emailed about Q5 Paper 2 and you said that the feedback was accurate to an extent. Would that accuracy drop due to it being creative writing?

  • @MrSallesTeachesEnglish

    @MrSallesTeachesEnglish

    It would be the same. The best use is in asking ChatGPT what you could do to improve. And then compare your writing to any page of a novel you like.

    I am not an essay person at all, and I’m really struggling to get my head around this idea, so should using the development idea in a paragraph sound something along the lines of: At the beginning of the play/novel .. this develops to when….. this implies (from extract) develops to when….. this implies (extract) developing onto… implying…. (Extract) developing again…… implying (extract) To finally being fully developed at the end of the play/novel when……
